"Uno! I win!" Nejire bounced up into the air and did a wobbly spin around the room with her quirk.
"Nejire, you can't put a green 2 on a blue 1, that's against the rules!" Peter yelled from his spot on the floor, Tamaki and Moe murmured an agreement.
"Wait, really? I always thought you could do that." Mirio looked up from his hand of sixteen cards, it was incredible how he was still cheery after getting ganged up on the entire game.
"I'm pretty sure that's against the rules, man," Moe commented, taking out a bottle of soda from the mini-fridge that Peter had brought over to her room.
Moe's room was normal looking, the only thing setting it apart were a couple of video game posters on the walls, the two consoles next to her TV and the abundance of plants around every corner. That and the two fire extinguishers next to the bed.
Who knew someone with a fire quirk liked plants so much? Good for her!
"I could've sworn that was cheating…" The long-eared teen muttered from beside Peter.
Rumi was just barely able to not throw a tantrum over losing.
People were right, no one knew the rules of Uno.
It was now day two at the heights alliance dorms, and Peter had been doing a decent job adapting to his new living situation. He'd interacted with his classmates along with 1-B a ton, spent a bunch of time with his friends and just be a regular teen doing teen things.
Well, except for the Rumi thing, he guessed that wasn't too common of a thing.
But they made a silent agreement to ignore that whole thing as to focus on the festival, which was probably for the best.
As of now, Peter and his friends were sitting in a circle inside Moe's room while playing Uno.
It… didn't go too well.
The first round they played, Rumi kept getting her turn skipped and nearly got into a fight with Tamaki.
The second round, Moe won and got so excited that she nearly set her bed on fire before Peter could use one of the fire extinguishers she had.
Apparently, the fireproof bed she had ordered hadn't been delivered yet.
And now it was the third round, which could only be described as a mess. Everyone made the silent agreement to screw over Mirio for whatever reason, and then they realized they barely knew the rules of the game.
Which now leads to Nejire flying across the room while giggling, Tamaki trying to comfort a Mirio who didn't even need comforting, Moe and Peter trying to figure out what the actual rules of the game were, and Rumi having to stop herself from fighting Nejire.
All in all, good fun!
"Hey, I think I got Skyrim monopoly around here, you guys wanna play that?"
Peter could only raise an eyebrow. "Why do you have Skyrim monopoly?"
"We can play the duck tales one if you want, dude."
The group ended up playing one round of monopoly.
More like half a round because Rumi ended up chasing Mirio around the dorms because he kept screwing her over on accident.
Good thing they never got to Mario Kart! Oh, Peter would not have wanted to see what would have happened there.
...
Wanna know the worst thing about being a hero in training?
It doesn't pay.
At all.
And while Peter was used to doing this stuff for free, he couldn't wait three years to graduate just so he could have some spending cash.
So, wanna know what he did?
He got a job!
Awfully convenient that the newspaper he worked for back in New York had a branch in Japan that was in deep need for employees.
Even better that guy who called him menace wasn't in this one, although a part of him would always miss Jameson for some reason.
And that's where Peter came in! He would go back to working as a freelance photographer who brought in the best shots of heroes in action and whatever else was interesting that day.
And while walking around with a camera in his hand would've been great and all, he decided to get the best next mode of transportation that wasn't web-swinging.
The old skateboard that Ben had given him all the way back on his 10th birthday, the thing had been too big for him to use until he was 13.
So, that was what the 3rd day of the dorm life was gonna be like, rolling around Musutafu and taking pictures.
What a way to spend his Friday afternoon, right? He should be happy that Aizawa agreed to him getting a job as long as it didn't interfere with school.
At the start, he guessed it was gonna be a boring way to pass the time.
"Woah! Peter! Look! Look! Ryukyu is beating that villain up! She's so cool!" Nejire called out from her spot floating just off the ground beside him, she was allowed fo use her quirk since she kept her flying ad walking speed.
Or it would've been if a certain excitable mass of periwinkle hair hadn't followed him out the dorm door.
Apparently, Nejire was about to go run her daily 10K, but when she found out about Peter's job, she had decided to tag along for a chance of, in her words:
"See a bunch of ultra-cool quirks and heroes! Oh, I ca-"
She probably said more, but Peter had tuned her out.
Also, Rumi had given him a look as she saw Peter agree to let her come with him, but he couldn't understand what she was thinking.
Nejire was like a hyper little sister you had to look after so she didn't burn the house down, you know?
"Woah, she sure is going to town on that guy." The calm voice of Sen Kaibara spoke from his other side, the teen taking a couple of shots of the fight on his phone.
The black-haired teen from 1-B had coincidentally been hanging out in the 1-A common area when Peter told Nejire what his job was, and had decided to come with him since he liked photography too and was meaning to go out into the city either way.
His calm and cool personality was a great contrast from Nejire's hyperactivity, but the guy surprisingly kept great company.
"Yep, better the picture I guess." Peter commented as he looked through the lens of his camera, the strap around his neck had a couple of pins from movies and tourist attractions.
The dragon heroine let out a deafening roar from her spot in the intersection and pummeled the two-headed villain with a flurry of clawed strikes.
A part of Peter recoiled at the sight, that same memory of the creature from USJ doing the same thing to him was still relatively fresh in his mind. The boy took a deep breath to push the memory away and focused on the sound of Nejire and Kaibara talking to calm him down.
He was past that now.
Peter took a few dozen shots of the aftermath before his attention was refocused on getting a good angle of the heroine thanking her fans and supporters before she took off with a beat of her mighty wings, the few sidekicks she had brought with her following after the woman.
He always did wondered why she only recruited girls with flying quirks, it must've been for marketing of something.
The crowd cheered as the cops put the villain into handcuffs and carried him away, then they returned to doing whatever they were doing before as if the fight had never happened.
The trio stood there for a second before continuing on their journey around the city, Peter looked through the pictures he got as he rolled along, a good chunk of them were pretty good. As they walked, Peter was stopped by a soft tug on the sleeve of his shirt that depicted a cartoon version of Michael Myers on a blue background.
He turned to see how Nejire pointed at what looked to be an ice cream parlor from across the street while she gave him puppy eyes.
They ended up getting ice cream, with Peter ordering a tropical-flavored slushy, Kaibara getting an orange-flavored popsicle, while Nejire got a triple scoop vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry combo covered in rainbow sprinkles and dipped in what looked to be milk chocolate.
Peter winced, and Kaibara's calm expression faltered when they saw the girl bite into her ice cream as if it was normal.
It was… horrifying.
