With no way to escape Nolan, it doesn't take long for him to have me pinned against the wall.
As his hand closes around my throat, I meet his eyes. "You won't win, Nolan. Even if you kill me, you won't be alpha anymore, and this pack will be better for it."
His smile is dark. "I've been alpha longer than you've been alive. Nothing will change that. Not you, not that mate of yours who's back from the dead in time for me to kill him. Nothing." His hand tightens further.
I tilt my head up but don't break eye contact. "I'm not afraid of you."
"You should be. I should do it, kill you, but that's what you want, isn't it? For me to give you a way out."
"This isn't me provoking you to kill me, Nolan. This is me showing you that I am not afraid of you, and I never will be. You've destroyed too many lives and I won't let you do it anymore."
