Chapter 114 - Tohka-Brand Power Bank, Highly Recommended

"Ugh, I'm so full."

Because Miku Izayoi was with her, Tohka had instinctively bought two servings of breakfast. But the problem was—she bought them based on her own standards.

As a result, both girls were now lying lazily across the table, so full they didn't even want to lift a finger.

"By the way, have your powers recovered yet? Yesterday, I only stabilized your spirit core—I didn't do anything else."

Lying on the sofa, Tohka suddenly remembered that Miku Izayoi seemed to have lost her abilities temporarily.

And in this chaotic Marvel world, being a normal person was extremely dangerous. You never knew when you'd get wiped out by some unknown AoE. Just like last night—with falling meteors, collapsing buildings, and all sorts of other messes.

Tohka didn't even need to open her computer to know there were probably countless casualty reports by now.

As for who would take the blame, she didn't care. This world was already a mess anyway. Not long ago, Egypt's pyramids were destroyed. That incident alone threw their government into turmoil.

"Yeah, don't worry. My powers are recovering slowly. Oh right, you said this place is New York."

At that moment, Miku suddenly sat up, looking at Tohka in disbelief.

"Wait a minute… Does that mean I've been speaking in English this whole time!?"

"Yup. Your English is pretty good."

Hearing this, Tohka nodded. Miku had been fluently conversing in English with people the whole time, so she didn't think much of it. Honestly, Tohka hadn't been great at English before, but ever since she arrived here, she could talk to everyone fluently.

"Er… Forget it. It must've been because of that thing I got earlier. Whatever, I'm not going to dwell on it."

Rubbing her head helplessly, Kurumi didn't bother figuring out how her English improved. Her worldview had already been shattered last night. It was her first time seeing someone uproot an entire island.

"Oh yeah, wanna go out for a bit? There's nothing going on today anyway. Wait here, I'll go get your ID from Tony real quick."

Tohka had originally planned to take Miku out to explore, but suddenly remembered she'd asked Tony to help get Miku's identification processed yesterday.

Without waiting for a reply, Tohka shot out the window and flew toward Stark Tower.

"Whoa, you're back already? I thought you'd be gone for a few days. Also… did you not sleep last night?"

Upon arriving, Tohka saw Tony sipping coffee at his desk. As for Pepper—no clue where she'd gone.

"Yeah, that thing is just too mysterious. I haven't been able to figure it out yet. But Tohka, could you charge up my energy source again? I've finished developing the shield."

Taking a sip of tea, Tony led Tohka to the lab downstairs. Then, under her deadpan stare, he pulled out an even bigger battery.

"What do you take me for? Didn't I already give you a bunch last time? And it's not like you've even fought recently!"

Looking at the massive battery, Tohka began to suspect Tony saw her as a literal power bank.

"Ahahaha, this is all for the sake of research! Plus, your energy is really convenient. I've actually managed to create something new—look at this!"

Tony laughed awkwardly and then pulled out a specialized arm guard, looking proud.

"Does this thing really work?"

Tohka eyed the arm guard skeptically. She could feel her own energy inside it—but it was way too weak. She doubted it could even withstand one of her swings.

"What, you don't trust me? Let me show you what my new invention can do!" Offended, Tony activated the shield.

"Really?" Tohka pulled out her giant sword.

BOOM. A slash of energy blasted through Stark Tower, soaring off into the distance.

"Ugh, where does he get that confidence from? It's basically paper-thin. Even the girls' armor from Date A Live is sturdier."

Flying through the air with Miku's ID file in hand, Tohka couldn't help but complain about Tony's invention. She felt like even the armor in Date A Live was sturdier than that thing.

"Sorry about the wait—here's your ID papers. Huh? What's with that look?"

Still in her armor, Tohka had just entered the room when she noticed something odd about Miku's expression.

"Wow, so pretty!"

Miku's eyes sparkled as she leapt at Tohka. There was no resisting the allure of Tohka's amethyst-colored armor for a girl who loved beautiful things.

"Hey, hey, it's just a suit of armor. Don't overreact like that!"

Holding the girl in her arms, Tohka fidgeted uncomfortably—mainly because she couldn't feel anything while in armor.

"Ah, sorry. But this armor is just so gorgeous! Can I have one too?"

Reluctantly pulling away, Kurumi looked at Tohka with hopeful eyes. Terrifyingly, she wanted one herself now.

"Well..."

Tohka almost agreed outright but stopped herself. The armor wasn't technically hers—it was Tony's, and he guarded it fiercely. After thinking for a bit, she continued, "The armor technically doesn't belong to me, and Tony's pretty strict about it. But maybe… if you help him charge up next time he's low on energy, he might let you have one."

"Okay, thanks a lot." Miku didn't argue.

She could tell Tohka didn't have the authority to promise something like that.

"By the way… do you still want to go back to your world?"

Tohka hesitated before asking. She didn't know how she'd managed to bring Miku here, but she figured it was only right to ask. After all, that was her home, and everyone gets homesick eventually.

"..."

Hearing that, the cheerful expression on Miku's face faded into silence.
