"You want to fight them alone?!" Thorn asked incredulously. "Are you crazy?!"
"Kinda." Ren grinned back.
Thorn stared at him, jaw hanging open. Then, he turned to Lilith, brows raised. You're not going to stop him?"
"Why should I?" Lilith frowns. "He wants to do it alone because he cares for us. And there's no way they can kill him. Us? We're not so immortal now, are we?"
Thorn stared at her, a shocked frown on his face, before sighing in defeat. "It's a scary day, when I'm the voice of reason."
Ren chuckled, turning back to the glowing eyes that surrounded them. "A scary day indeed."
With a kiss on Lilith's forehead and a nod at Thorn, he stepped quietly away from the clearing, making as much noise as he could as he moved between the massive tree trunks.
The yellow eyes above shifted with him, tracking his movement like predators watching their prey.
