Faith's POV
I stepped back into the warm glow of the dinner party, the murmur of conversations enveloping me once again. As I slid into my seat between Phoenix and Paxton, the twins looked at me with interest.
"What did I miss?" I whispered to Phoenix.
Phoenix leaned in, his voice low. "Dove just had a meltdown. She was begging Felix to take her back, and he shut her down."
I followed Phoenix's gaze to Dove, who was now walking away, her makeup smeared, tears streaming down her face. She looked like she'd been through a war.
I winced in sympathy. "Ouch, that looks painful."
Phoenix raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, Dove doesn't take rejection well."
Paxton snorted. "That's an understatement."
The twins' banter was easy and familiar, and I found myself relaxing in their presence.
Felix, on the other hand, stood across the room, his eyes fixed intently on the scene unfolding before him.
