Chapter 351 - Chapter 351: I'd Rather Be Called the Purple Police Dog

The visitor Furina mentioned was the Madame, whom they hadn't seen in a long time.

"It's been a while, Miss Luna. I never imagined that in the blink of an eye, you'd become one of the top figures in Fontaine's art world."

Clorinde looked at Luna quizzically, hoping for an introduction.

Luna smiled and explained, "This is Madame... Of course, that's not her real name. When I was just starting out as an actress, she gave me a great deal of valuable advice."

It was thanks to Madame's advice that Navia had become her manager. Seeing her again after so long, Luna couldn't help but feel a wave of emotion.

Has it really been that long?

Besides Madame, there was another unexpected figure: Chevreuse.

Chevreuse nodded. "Hello. I'm here to see Luna, but it's not urgent. You can talk first."

"Can't you say it here?" Navia asked curiously.

"No."

It's most likely related to a criminal case.

Chevreuse needed the Phantom Thief White Cat right now, not Detective Luna.

"Found something?" Luna asked casually.

"Yes."

Got it. Looks like there's another treasure to steal.

Luna smiled, motioning for Chevreuse and Madame to sit on the sofa while she poured them tea.

"So, Madame, what brings you here today?"

Madame smiled elegantly. "I heard that you and Lady Furina have established your own troupe. As a friend, I naturally wanted to show my support. Please, this is a gift for all of you."

She took an exquisite box of pastries from her bag.

Furina's face lit up. "You really know the way to my heart! Thank you! You're welcome to come see our performances anytime. We'll give you free tickets."

"That would be wonderful."

After speaking, Madame gazed quietly at Luna.

"You... you remind me a little of my child."

Luna was taken aback for a moment, then shook her head. "I have my own mother."

"Forgive my lapse. I've also come today to ask a favor of you, Miss Luna—to help me find my daughter."

Finding someone? That's a detective's job! Navia asked curiously, "Your daughter is missing?"

"I should say... she was abducted."

"What?"

Chevreuse analyzed the situation. "Human trafficking?"

Madame pressed her forehead, her eyes filled with deep sorrow. "Yes... I believe so. My daughter's name is Olivia... Olivia Drax. She was taken when she was only a few months old."

"A few months old? That will make her incredibly difficult to find," Furina said, shocked.

Chevreuse asked, "Are there any distinguishing physical features? A birthmark, for instance?"

If there were, they could immediately issue a missing person notice.

Madame silently shook her head.

Apparently not.

"It's all my fault," Madame lamented. "Back then, I was completely focused on my work. Her biological father had already abandoned us. I didn't watch over her properly... I stepped away for just a moment, and she was gone."

Luna offered no comment, focusing instead on gathering more details.

"Where did she go missing?" Luna asked.

"A department store..." Madame replied. "I've been searching for her all these years. The reason I enjoy nurturing young actors is partly to see if any of them might be my child, and partly to leverage their connections to help me search..."

After so many years of searching without success, several possibilities remained.

Either she had changed her name and become someone else entirely;

Or she was already dead, vanished from the world;

Or, worse still, she was trapped in a fate worse than death.

Navia clearly considered these possibilities as well, but she offered comfort nonetheless.

"Don't worry, the Spina di Rosula will help you! For all we know, your daughter might be living a comfortable life as a young lady in some wealthy family!"

"If only that were true..." Madame sighed deeply.

She wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes and whispered, "I know I wasn't a good mother. I don't expect her to forgive my negligence. I just want to see her again, to know how she's doing now."

Luna smiled. "We'll do everything we can to help you."

Despite her words, searching with only a name was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Luna urged the Madame to recall any other identifying items, no matter how small the clue.

After a moment of deep thought, she seemed to remember something.

"A handkerchief..."

"A handkerchief?"

The Madame nodded. "Olivia loved one of my purple handkerchiefs. She was always clutching it. When she disappeared, the handkerchief was gone too. It might have been taken along with her."

Because it was very valuable, she added silently.

Luna asked her to sketch the handkerchief's pattern from memory. The Madame drew a rough outline, which became their only—and most useful—clue.

"We can't guarantee any results," Luna said seriously.

Navia opened her mouth, then closed it, thinking Luna was right.

Hope can easily lead to disappointment.

No hope, no despair.

"I understand. Thank you all," the Madame said, taking a deep breath. She rose, bowed, and then took her leave.

Furina sighed. "I really want to help her find her child, but with so little information, pinpointing a specific person in Fontaine..."

"Or anywhere in Teyvat," Clorinde interjected. "We don't know if she ever left Fontaine."

"True... We'll have to rely on luck. Or perhaps we could use the media to search for her!"

Luna smiled. "That's a good idea, indeed."

After a lively discussion, Furina and the others finally left the office, leaving Luna and Chevreuse alone.

Chevreuse, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke.

"Take a look at this."

She handed over a file.

Luna took it and glanced through the pages. "This is..."

"Remember the 'Phantom Thief Mania' from back then? After the Serial Disappearance Case, the Court of Justice's reputation was in tatters. To create an opportunity to escape, a certain Court of Justice official secretly fueled the phenomenon, turning the Fontainians' attention to you. They began to idolize you, seeing you as the Nemesis of Evil."

Then came the major hostage crisis that would go down in history.

And the nights when several women, including Chevreuse, lost sleep over Luna.

"It's rather nostalgic," Luna said with a faint smile.

Back then, neither she nor Chevreuse could have ever imagined their relationship would become what it is today.

Chevreuse sighed. "I don't find it nostalgic at all, but at least you remember."

"According to our investigation, he likely had an accomplice."

"Also from the Court of Justice?"

"No."

Chevreuse flipped open the file in Luna's hands and pointed to a passport-style photo inside.

"This man is Hector, the owner of an artist agency. He calls himself 'Mr. Long Legs.' He adopts orphans and trains them to be the industry's next big stars."

"I bet he has other business on the side," Luna remarked.

Chevreuse's expression turned grave. "You're right. Underperforming actors are 'shelved' for a while, then he forces them into... 'special industries.'"

"'Special industries,' huh..."

Luna finished reading the file, now understanding the situation.

Despite the rumors, all the agency's employees denied any wrongdoing, and the arrested actors vehemently denied Hector's involvement.

"We did it willingly."

—Their testimonies were all identical.

Chevreuse continued, "He was close to Ronat... the former Court of Justice official you shot. It's likely Ronat collaborated with him to orchestrate the 'Phantom Thief Mania.'"

"Using the connections he built over the years and the network established through his 'special industries,' it wouldn't have been difficult."

The criminal underworld is tightly interconnected, like a web; no part can exist in isolation.

Luna mused, "Sixty percent of the actors at his agency are orphans..."

"Strange, isn't it?"

"Yeah."

Chevreuse handed her a photograph.

"This is something from Hector's Agency."

The photo showed a pair of crystal shoes.

They were crystal clear, though a bit small—hardly a flaw. The craftsmanship looked excellent, and the materials were high-quality. One glance was enough to tell they were expensive.

"'Lolita's Crystal Shoes'... that's the name of this treasure."

Chevreuse whispered, "The rest is up to you."

"Alright, alright, I know."

Where there's treasure, there's the Phantom Thief White Cat.

And where there's the Phantom Thief White Cat, there's the Special Task Force and Chevreuse.

With Chevreuse and the Special Task Force, they can arrest the criminals.

Charge straight into the enemy's territory with the whole crew, sweep up the treasure and evidence in one go!

"Thinking about it, maybe I should change my name to 'Vigilante White Cat'?" Luna wondered aloud.

"Phantom Thief White Cat suits you better."

Luna grinned. "How about White Cat woman? What do you think?"

"Too cheesy."

"Then you come up with one."

Chevreuse smiled faintly. "No way."

"How about Eyepatch Hero for you, Chevreuse?"

"I'd rather be called the Purple Police Dog."
