Chapter 148 - Chapter 148

Tonight is a full moon, and Lys wants to explore the library to discover what is calling her true name.

As night falls, Lys evaluates her condition, finding it quite satisfactory. She adjusts the alchemical armor on her cloak and shirt.

Since Snape is still unable to leave the hospital, Lys places a small note into Gabon's collar and heads directly to the location of the bookshelf.

She falls into a trap.

Since her first year, Lys has known she has a low resistance to mental magic, but she didn't expect it to be this low.

How should I put it? Lys had planned everything meticulously, wearing buffering charms, protective charms, and even spells to guard against mental attacks. Yet, the opponent didn't come at her as she had anticipated.

Almost the moment she approached the bookshelf in the moonlight, a spell targeting her emotions and memory struck Lys.

When she next opens her eyes, her tightly held wand falls to the ground.

Lys closes her eyes, unable to resist slapping herself, it really hurts, the pain... it might be real.

Looking at her mother in front of her with a distressed expression and the black door beside her, Lys wants to find what she just dropped, but after a quick glance and groping around on the ground, there is nothing.

Perhaps she was too nervous and seeing things, Lys swallows, hiding her dusty little hands behind her back.

"Get in!"

"Mom, I won't cause trouble, I'll stay still on my little bed, can I not go in?"

Her answer is a rough drag, attempting to shove her into that dark room without light. Lys grabs the door frame, but quickly lets go, not wanting to anger her mother.

In the last bit of light, what disappears through the door crack is her mother's exhausted, disgusted, struggling expression.

So hungry, in the darkness, Lys fumbles around her body, this time she hasn't brought any food in, it seems what she dropped outside was probably the cookies she hid.

Sighing, she hugs herself and curls up by the door crack, looking out through that tiny gap.

From here, she can see the window at the end of the corridor, the shadow of the fruit tree casting something strange that seems about to crawl in from there. Lys is both scared and reluctant to leave the only light, so she lowers her eyes to stare at the floor below.

"The wizard's bouncing pot met... the Fountain of Fair Fortune, they were full..." Lys recites the only book at home, continuing to quietly tell herself the story, "Herpo shouted for power on a ship far from shore, mysterious beings in the thunderclouds... the hairy-hearted wizard lacked the courage to fight, he stayed forever at the sea bottom... and Herpo and his crew landed on fertile ground, escaping the dark, bewildering illusion."

Lys touches her very sore left arm, pats her empty shoulder, vaguely remembering something important should be there, but now there is nothing.

This is only the first day, the moon should be coming out from behind the clouds soon.

"Howl~" Clearly inside the house, why does it feel a bit cold? The frantic rattling of chains, the sound of scratching walls, the repressed, hateful curses.

Lys fearfully closes her eyes, covering her ears.

Can't hear, can't hear is good.

Falling asleep, the night would pass if she slept.

Wrapped in a warm blanket, she sleeps for a day, opening her drowsy eyes, turning over and brushing the hair stuck to her face, Lys steps barefoot onto the carpet.

"Coco, Coco, water!"

With a pop, the house-elf brings a cup of warm water to little Lys's bedside.

Wearing a small camisole nightgown, she drinks the water, waving a children's wand that shows no reaction, "Pop! Pop!"

Although she has never seen it, shouldn't her wand flash with light?

Unhappy, she throws away the useless wand.

"Papa! Coco."

The red-haired child, like a meatball, totters on short, stubby legs towards the carpet.

"Coco! Papa!"

The house-elf carries the soft, fair child to the parlor, handing the little master to the male owner.

Father's face looks bad, the guest smells bad.

Lys pounces into her father's arms, sticking her tongue out at the guest opposite.

But what follows isn't her father's gentle head rub, but bright, dazzling spells and insulting laughter.

What was it... a discarded pawn? A rat stealing identity? Something more severe, what was it...

The guest turns into a big dog!

Father is bitten, the meatball-like little Lys is thrown away.

Coco is ordered by the male owner to protect the little master, but the male owner is being strangled by a werewolf!

"What a tender, delicious little snack! Shall we try it in the moonlight later, maybe your own bloodline tastes even better, doesn't it? Too bad, my child ate too fast back then, couldn't taste anything." The tall werewolf standing on two legs grabs Noah's shoulder, lifting Noah's legs off the ground.

The chaotic scene scares Lys into crying out loud, she pounds the picture on the table beside her, shouting "Momo."

The werewolf bares its teeth, licking the blood of Noah on them, "Come out, your daughter sees you, don't you want to enjoy dying united with your husband? Hahaha," it leans its stinking mouth close to Noah's ear, laughing coarsely.

"See, your wife and daughter will die inside your belly, once the moon comes out, your transformation completes, tasting the flavor of flesh, you will love those enchanting tastes!"

It leisurely claws into Noah's lower back, "Come out! Damn woman!"

A blinding flash and violent shaking, the last memory is of her mother's outstretched hands.

Rubbing her eyes, it is mother and father, the pitch-black grass and swaying tree shadows.

So cold, wearing a camisole nightgown, Lys tries to burrow into her father's arms, but what is happening?

Father is panting heavily, mother is giving him bitter medicine.

While feeding father medicine, mother falls asleep. Little Lys pries the freshly opened bottle from her mother's hand, pours it into father's mouth, patting his face.

Good child, take your medicine!

And then? And then!

And then...
