Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 The Next Day

I woke up around mid-afternoon, V drying her hair.

Noticing that I was no longer asleep, she smiled at me.

"Good morning, or rather good afternoon. It's already one o'clock…" she said, blushing, probably remembering our little game in the middle of the night.

I just smiled, sitting up.

"How are you feeling?" I asked her.

"Much better than yesterday. If you ignore the wow man who won't shut up about… sex…" she said, blushing.

"Hey, it's not my fault that you did that in front of me." Johnny appeared next to V.

I looked at him, then looked at V.

"Didn't you take your pills?" I asked, she just sighed.

"I decided to give him a chance."

"I just figured that if I wanted to end Arasaka, I'd need help." the man said.

"Is there anything you want to say?" V asked, glaring at Johnny.

"Yeah… Anyway, I'm sorry I called you a bitch." he said and disappeared.

"Strangely enough, I didn't sense any lies in his words." I said, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, we talked for quite a while…" V said.

I simply rolled my eyes at her mysteriousness and got out of bed, going into the bathroom to take a shower.

"Misty called, by the way. Jackie has regained consciousness, but his injuries will keep him bedridden for a few weeks." I heard V's voice as I washed my hair.

"Tell them I'm glad he's okay." I called from the shower.

"Okay." V replied.

After finishing my shower, I went out to quickly get dressed and approached V, who was sitting at the computer.

I walked up to her and hugged her shoulders.

"What are you doing?" I asked, hanging on her shoulders.

"I'm paying for the apartment, otherwise we'll be evicted." she said.

"Maybe this is a reason to find us a new apartment?" I asked.

"Tama, new ones are pretty expensive, I don't have that kind of money yet." she said.

"But I do!" I said, I was constantly putting it aside and had already saved up a decent amount.

"No, Tama, as the head of the family, I have to get the money myself for the apartment, and not ask my wife for it." she said, to which I rolled my eyes at my breadwinner.

"Well, head of the family, remind me again when I became your wife?" I asked.

"Are you against it?" she asked, which made me smile and shake my head.

"No, but don't you think you should give me a ring that will show that I belong to you?" I said teasingly.

"Absolutely!" she exclaimed, to which I laughed.

"In any case, what did you learn from this half-baked rocker?" I asked, to which V snorted.

"He doesn't like that you called him that." V said, still amused.

"Well, let him get used to it." I said.

V laughed for a few more seconds and finally began to tell.

"He told me about someone who could probably help us. Only, she disappeared over fifty years ago." V said.

"Seriously? He even knows where we can look for her? And wouldn't she be old or dead by now?" I asked.

"Johnny said he had some leads." V said.

"What leads? He spent over fifty years inside the chip." I said.

"So we'll leave it at that in case all else fails." V said.

I could only sigh and look at V.

"Have you already contacted the client, I think her name is Evelyn?" I asked, to which she nodded.

"Yeah, but no one's answering."

"Have you tried contacting her sexy friend?" I asked.

She raised an eyebrow.

"Should I be jealous?" V asked.

I just rolled my eyes.

"Like you don't think so." I replied.

"No comment..."

"Anyway, I didn't call Judy, and I'm going to call her later, but for now we have to meet Takemura." V said.

"Takemura?" I asked.

"Well, that Japanese guy, the dead old man's bodyguard." She said.

"Well then, let's go meet him." I said, to which V nodded, standing up from her chair.

"Well, let's go..." She didn't finish, as she grabbed her head.

"V!" I immediately rushed to her.

"I'm fine, just a little dizzy." She said with a forced smile.

"Are you sure?" I asked, to which she nodded.

"Okay, but if you feel bad you have to tell me." I said with an angry look, telling her not to lie to me.

"Absolutely." She replied, looking away.

Leaving the apartment, we headed for the elevator, but before we got there, we saw two police officers, a man and a woman, knocking on the door.

The woman noticed us and moved away from her partner and came up to us.

"Excuse me, ladies, do you know who lives in this apartment?" she asked.

V nodded immediately.

"Yeah, we say hi to him sometimes, and talk about cars." V said.

I rolled my eyes.

"Your "talk about cars" is when you call each other names." I said.

I had to pull V out quite often, otherwise she would just kill that guy, and all because of cars.

"He's a co-worker of ours, he was recently fired and stopped contacting us. Could you talk to him?" she asked.

"Well… Okay." V replied.

Then she nodded and looked at the man who walked away from the door.

V came to the door and started knocking.

"This is V, the neighbor upstairs. Well, remember we were talking about cars?" she said, but there was silence behind the door.

"Hey, you there?" she said again.

"Maybe we can try tomorrow?" I asked.

"We have to, we can't do this now, because it's already the middle of the day," she said.

I nodded and went to the elevator, while V told the cops that we would try to talk to him tomorrow.

Approaching the elevator, I began to wait for V, who came a couple of minutes later, and we entered the elevator, pressing the parking floor.
