Chapter 576: Obito and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen
Hiruko and his subordinates had originally been holed up in Mount Shumi, at the border of the Land of Earth and the Land of Grass.
Surrounded by mountains, it was easy to defend and hard to attack. Once they hid in the mountains, it was impossible to find them without a grid-like search.
There were a lot of rogue ninja from Konoha, and the village had its own messes to deal with, so no one was willing to go all the way there to hunt him down.
Now that he had controlled and abducted Kakashi with a seal, he naturally wouldn't return to his old lair. Instead, he headed west, into the Gobi Desert of the Land of Wind.
The controlled Kakashi ran in front, with Naruto and Sakura following closely behind. Ino and her friends followed leisurely at the back.
At this time, another group of people entered the Gobi from the northern Land of Earth.
Obito didn't want to see his Sharingan fall into Hiruko's hands. The thought of his eye being defiled by this ugly freak disgusted him.
But he was even more unwilling to let the Infinite Tsukuyomi plan fail.
Naruto had foolishly run out, with only a small Sakura by his side. Even if it was a trap, he had to devour this piece of fat meat.
Obito had transplanted a Rinnegan into his left eye socket, while his right eye was still his own Kamui Mangekyo.
Unaware of Madara's subsequent plans, he believed he had inherited everything from Madara. In that case, the Rinnegan was naturally his as well. It had been placed with Nagato before, just to use that fool.
Now it was returning to its rightful owner.
It wasn't that he didn't want to transplant two Rinnegan, but with his chakra reserves, bearing one Rinnegan was about his limit. Two was simply too much.
After all, these were not his own eyes, and he didn't have Nagato's vast chakra.
Obito had swapped his spiral mask for a white one and was wearing a dark blue robe. On his back was the famous ninja tool passed down through the Uchiha clan, the Uchiha Gunbai, a war fan made from a branch of the God Tree that could use Wind Release to control fire ninjutsu and could, to a limited extent, repel ninjutsu.
He also wanted to copy the Six Paths of Pain's combat style, hiding in the shadows and controlling six bodies to fight for him. How awesome would that be!
Unfortunately, one Rinnegan had limited use. Plus, he had only gotten the Rinnegan for a short time. In terms of ninjutsu talent, he couldn't hold a candle to Nagato. To be like Nagato, to subdivide the Rinnegan's abilities into six bodies and have them fight as one in battle, was something he couldn't do.
Even if he were given the answers to copy, he couldn't do it.
He had no choice but to use Kabuto's Reanimation to replace some of the Rinnegan's abilities.
He had reanimated six of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. He had installed black rods in their bodies to receive the Rinnegan's messages, then had rushed over with the six of them.
Leading the charge of the six swordsmen was Jūzō Biwa, the hero who had once joined the Akatsuki and had used the Kubikiribōchō to cut a Tailed Beast Bomb to save Itachi.
To Jūzō's left was the 2.49-meter-tall freak, Fuguki Suikazan, the former owner of Samehada.
To his right was the Hidden Mist's lightning-style kunoichi who had died young, Ringo Ameyuri.
The three at the back were the three swordsmen who had been killed by Might Guy's father, Might Duy, when he opened the eighth gate during the Third Great Ninja War.
Kushimaru Kuriarare, Jinpachi Munashi, and Jinin Akebino.
The Kubikiribōchō was still in Zabuza's hands, Samehada was with Ino, and the Lightning Swords had been broken by Ino before. The Hidden Mist was dirt poor and had no money to repair them. So, the first three had no special ninja swords and could only use ordinary weapons.
The swords of the last three, however, had been stolen by Obito.
Kushimaru Kuriarare used the long and thin sword like a large needle, with a sharp chakra thread at the hilt, the Longsword: Nuibari.
Jinpachi Munashi used the axe-hammer combination sword, the Bluntsword: Kabutowari.
Jinin Akebino used the sword that could summon countless explosive tags and cause a huge explosion upon hitting an enemy, the Blastsword: Shibuki.
The six swordsmen not only had to be controlled by Kabuto's Reanimation from a distance but also by Obito's Rinnegan at close range.
Obito led the six of them into the Land of Wind. After crossing a desert, they came face to face with an anxious Naruto. Sakura, seeing the enemies in front, subconsciously stopped.
Naruto didn't retreat. He had already learned a lot about the past from Minato. He knew that the masked man was the culprit who had killed his parents and caused his tragic childhood. Now, seeing his enemy, he was filled with rage.
Instead of slowing down, he accelerated and charged forward.
Obito was a fool, and naturally not a smart person either.
This sinister man hadn't even spared his own teacher and teacher's wife, so why would he care about Naruto?
In his eyes, Naruto charging forward was just reckless bravery.
He didn't hesitate either and charged forward with his head.
With a muffled thud, their heads collided. The sound traveled far.
They collided in mid-air, their forces canceling each other out, and they both fell to the ground.
The six swordsmen didn't even look at Sakura. Kushimaru Kuriarare, using the Longsword: Nuibari, was the first to throw his large needle.
Naruto dodged at the last second and was then besieged by the other five swordsmen.
He quickly entered his Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, his whole body emitting a dazzling golden light.
Fuguki Suikazan roared, wielding a giant sword the size of a door panel, aiming for Naruto's vital points with every move, his fierce expression like a demon.
Ringo Ameyuri was like a nimble thunderbird, her long sword pointing diagonally at the sky.
"Lightning Release: Thunderbolt!" A huge bolt of lightning struck Naruto, and the golden light instantly dimmed by half.
Naruto was fighting one against six and couldn't break free. He immediately used the Shadow Clone Technique.
Hundreds of shadow clones, all in a glittering golden form.
Before he could be proud of himself, Jinin Akebino, using the Blastsword: Shibuki, rushed over. This swordsman didn't bother to distinguish between the real body and the shadow clones. He roared, and the explosive tags on his blastsword seemed endless. With every slash, he could blow up more than a dozen shadow clones.
"Sakura! Run! Go and rescue Kakashi-sensei!" Naruto was tied down and couldn't break free. He could only ask Sakura for help.
Sakura: "..."
How highly do you think of me? Wasn't I just supposed to show the way? Now I have to rescue someone too?
Should she not save him? That was definitely not an option. Kakashi had been good to her too. When Ino had tricked her out of her tutoring fees with a bunch of advanced water-style ninjutsu knowledge, it was Kakashi who had patiently figured it out and explained the principles to her, breaking them down into small pieces.
Save him? She knew her own limits. She simply didn't have the ability!
At the critical moment, Sasuke rushed up from behind.
A Chidori Sharp Spear repelled Ringo Ameyuri, who also used Lightning Release. He leaped up and kicked Jūzō Biwa's wrist, then twisted his waist and kicked the swordsman in the chest again.
Sasuke fought two swordsmen alone.
Sakura turned back to join the battle and, with great difficulty, blocked Kushimaru Kuriarare, who was using the Longsword: Nuibari, with a Water Dragon Bullet.
