Chapter 563: The Enemy from the Future
The man in the white robe had a relaxed demeanor, holding a fishing rod that glowed with a crystalline red light. Beside him was a fishing basket emitting the same glow.
He didn't even glance at Hayate Gekko's arrival, continuing to fish calmly.
Hayate secretly drew his katana, gently stirring the lake water at his feet with the blade.
The lake water here wasn't a genjutsu; it seemed to be the effect of some kind of ninjutsu.
This man in white was able to create a lake out of thin air. Nothing else needed to be said; his chakra reserves were frighteningly high. Hayate had only seen chakra of this magnitude in a handful of people.
"Who are you?" he demanded sternly.
The other party was focused on fishing. Hayate, who had no concept of fear, raised his voice and asked again.
"You're not from Rōran, nor are you a ninja from Konoha or the Sand. Who are you? Why are you here? Answer me!"
The fisherman tilted his head slightly, sized him up, and his expression seemed quite disappointed.
He said softly, "Why am I here? I come from your future. To catch up to you, I really had to put in some effort... Your strength is too weak. You are not worthy of knowing my name. Leave now, and have the person in charge come and talk to me."
From the future? Hayate had "seen the world" in his own way by now. Having experienced so many storms, he knew the gap between himself and some of the stronger individuals. This fisherman didn't seem to have the heavy, oppressive aura of Madara Uchiha, yet he felt this man might be even stronger. There was no reason for it, just pure intuition.
Hayate wasn't afraid of death, but he didn't want to die in vain. He had to report this to the Hokage.
Seeing the other party focused on fishing, he slowly retreated.
When Hayate had taken his fifth step back, the fisherman suddenly turned, his gentle expression replaced by greed.
"Chakra that comes knocking on my door... I shouldn't let it go, should I? Come here!"
He flicked his hand, and the seemingly mystical fishing rod drew an arc. Faster than lightning, the hook pierced Hayate Gekko's chest. With a flick of the fisherman's wrist, a mass... a mass of miscellaneous junk mixed with some chakra was "fished" out of him.
Hayate had been knocked down by a single punch from Madara Uchiha. If it weren't for Mei Terumi's timely rescue, he would have drowned in the sea for sure.
Knowing his own talents were limited, he had sought out the Arasaka Corporation. At great expense, in addition to his original "Pain Editor" and "Synaptic Signal Optimizer," he had also installed Arasaka's latest "Sandevistan Mk. 3," as well as "Subdermal Armor" and a "Thermal Converter."
He could have installed more cybernetics, but Ino was worried his mind wouldn't be able to handle it.
With so many cybernetic enhancements, he had maintained an almost perfect winning record against ninja of the same rank. But now, facing the fisherman, he was still in a state where he couldn't block a single move.
It seemed that no matter how he dodged or retreated, he couldn't block the strange fishing hook.
At this moment, the only purpose of this pile of cybernetics was to distract the fisherman.
The other party hadn't expected to "fish" out so much junk with one cast of his rod. What is all this stuff? Are you a robot in human skin?
He was stunned for a moment, then asked with a smile, "These parts look familiar. Are they the little toys that Ino Yamanaka came up with? Is that annoying girl here too?"
Hayate had no strength to answer.
The cybernetics were forcibly pulled from his body. The removal of the "Subdermal Armor" and "Synaptic Signal Optimizer" felt like he was being flayed alive from the inside out, from bone to skin. The pain was beyond measure. Blood flowed backward in his veins, and he felt the pressure on his heart growing. He had also lost more than half of his chakra. Not daring to waste any time, he turned and ran.
After running a hundred meters, the fisherman's voice reached his ears. "Your way of dealing with my move is quite peculiar. To be honest, I've seen these little toys before, but I didn't pay them much mind... You've taken one of my moves and brought me a lot of joy. According to my rules, you have the right to know my name. Remember, my name is Urashiki Ōtsutsuki. Tell your Hokage to hand over the Nine-Tails, and I will let you leave. I have no interest in killing people. You can run a little slower; I won't chase a small fry like you."
Although Urashiki Ōtsutsuki's words were pleasant, Hayate felt that this man was capricious and seemed to have a schizophrenic personality.
His whole body ached. Rōran was large. He didn't dare to go directly back to their hiding place. He wandered around the vicinity for half a day. Seeing that the enemy wasn't pursuing him, he finally returned to the hiding spot and reported to the Fourth Hokage.
"Urashiki Ōtsutsuki? From the future? This is getting stranger and stranger..." Minato Namikaze found the name extremely unfamiliar. He was certain of one thing: this person was definitely not in his Rōran mission when he was young.
Ino had hyped up the Ōtsutsuki clan before, but that was for the Sage of Six Paths' benefit. She couldn't possibly go around Popular Science the deeds of Momoshiki, Kinshiki, and Urashiki to the ninja world.
So Minato had no idea about the origin of this Urashiki Ōtsutsuki.
Judging by his surname, he seemed to be a descendant of the Sage of Six Paths, but the specifics were unknown.
He went to discuss it with his younger self. "Hayate said the enemy is very strong, and I also have a bad feeling. Let's discuss a countermeasure."
Urashiki Ōtsutsuki was not in a hurry at all and had no intention of pursuing Hayate.
He stuffed the chakra he had extracted from Hayate's body into the red fishing basket beside him.
Then he leisurely fished for another day before shouldering his fishing rod, floating in mid-air, and flying towards the depths of Rōran.
Neither Minato Namikaze would hand over Naruto. When Urashiki Ōtsutsuki was halfway there, Choza Akimichi, who had been lying in ambush, launched a surprise attack.
"Partial Multi-Size Technique!" The Choza Akimichi of this time, though young, was a standard jonin. His mentality, willpower, and judgment were a notch higher than Choji's at the same age.
A gigantic hand slapped down on the enemy.
Urashiki Ōtsutsuki sneered. Without making any hand seals, he maintained his floating posture and moved horizontally more than ten meters in mid-air.
He scanned his surroundings with his high-purity Byakugan.
The large swarm of Parasitic Destruction Insects that Shibi Aburame had secretly arranged was discovered and had to be activated prematurely.
Urashiki Ōtsutsuki flicked his fishing rod, then with a somewhat disgusted expression, fished out a small, mixed ball of chakra from the swarm of insects.
"Trash!" With a flick of his wrist, the chakra was dissipated. Having lost their internal chakra, a large number of parasitic insects fell from the sky, dying silently.
Shizune rushed out from the side. She raised her arm, and a mechanism made a series of clicking sounds. Four senbon soaked in deadly poison shot towards Urashiki.
