Chapter 286: Expulsion Order
Knowing that Iwagakure held a deep prejudice against Konoha, Tsunade still decided to tell the truth.
"It was Akatsuki members who controlled your jinchuriki."
"Hmph, Akatsuki? Evidence? Where are they? Did anyone see any Akatsuki members? All I see here are the three of you! And this pig!" the Third Tsuchikage said menacingly.
Tonton shivered in Shizune's arms; this old man was too scary.
The surrounding Iwagakure ninjas sneered. You say there are Akatsuki members, how come we didn't see any? Where are they? Just because you say so?
Tsunade glanced back. The small building, which previously held some traces of the battle, had completely collapsed.
If they were detectives, perhaps they could find some clues to prove their innocence.
Unfortunately, they were ninjas who relied on the size of their fists, not detectives who relied on evidence.
Tsunade still had a good sense of the bigger picture. She suppressed her fiery temper and tried her best to reason with the Third Tsuchikage.
"Suspect us? Just because your jinchuriki was controlled? Why wouldn't we do it secretly, instead of controlling the jinchuriki when the three of us are visiting? Are we that stupid?"
The Third Tsuchikage said stubbornly, "This old man won't listen to your sophistry! Playing with words is useless. This old man saw Madara Uchiha back then; Han was controlled by the Sharingan!"
To corroborate his words, he even mentioned two characteristics of being controlled by the Sharingan. Though not entirely accurate, the features he described were largely consistent with those summarized by the Second Hokage.
Ino resisted the urge to facepalm. Look, another victim of the Sharingan has appeared!
Your clan being wiped out was truly not unjust. You've accumulated too much hatred; all over the world, there are enemies meticulously plotting to kill you.
Tsunade argued forcefully, "So what if it's the Sharingan? Konoha currently only has one Uchiha survivor. A fourteen-year-old boy, do you think he can control your jinchuriki? Are there few ninjas in the ninja world secretly researching the Sharingan? How many Sharingan were lost during the three Great Ninja Wars? Have you counted?"
The Third Tsuchikage said in a gruff voice, "Outsiders simply cannot use the Sharingan."
Tsunade immediately retorted, "You and I both know that the claim that outsiders cannot use the Sharingan is not accurate. With strong willpower, outsiders can also use the Sharingan."
Had Iwagakure researched the Sharingan? They definitely had.
Had they performed transplants? Tsunade believed they probably had.
The Uchiha clan always moved with their own kinsmen on the battlefield. Facing a group of red-eyed individuals, trying to gouge out their eyes was very difficult, but not impossible.
The reason why there were extremely few ninjas with transplanted Sharingan was twofold.
Firstly, the backlash and burden were too great; the body couldn't withstand the constant chakra consumption of an active Sharingan.
Secondly, lack of talent and insufficient willpower meant they couldn't develop the Sharingan's abilities. Many recipients couldn't even utilize one-tenth of its full potential. It was somewhat like phantom limb syndrome; phantom limb syndrome is when an amputee feels their limb is still there, while transplanting a Sharingan is a reverse process.
If unable to control it, they would become like those cyber-psychos who replace their flesh with machinery. Because the Sharingan is an independent organ, after transplantation, one would feel a strange foreign object in their eye socket. This thing would constantly, every second of every minute, send abnormal signals to the brain.
The Sharingan itself is a crystallization of Yin Release spiritual energy. Over time, if not properly controlled, a ninja with a transplanted Sharingan would basically go mad.
Nowadays, those with talent look down on Sharingan that only reach three tomoe, and for those without talent, giving them a Sharingan is harming them. Over time, no outsiders have gone down the path of transplanting Sharingan.
This "none" didn't mean it couldn't be done. Among the great ninja villages, when it came to tenacity of will, Iwagakure was foremost. Their Will of Stone was still effective. Tsunade was now not only refusing to take the blame but was also deflecting it. Her words implied suspicion that Iwagakure ninjas had controlled the tailed beast to cause trouble and frame Konoha.
The Third Tsuchikage glared at Tsunade and said stiffly, "No matter how you argue, your suspicion is the greatest. Stay here and await the results of our investigation!"
Ino and Shizune both looked at Tsunade. Boss, give the order, and we'll run!
Tsunade showed no fear: "Fine, I'll await your investigation. With your efficiency, it will take at least a month, right?"
Knowing she was goading him, the Third Tsuchikage still made a promise: "Ten days!"
The day after the chaos ended, the Five-Tails jinchuriki, Han, woke up.
The ocular power controlling him was minimal. Before any investigation or analysis could be done, that ocular power automatically dispersed.
Han had taken a direct hit from someone's Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan. Despite his good physique and the tailed beast's powerful recovery ability, it still took him two days to regain mobility.
The five great ninja villages all described Han as "tall." Previously, Ino's attention had been on the Five-Tails' horns, and she hadn't noticed how tall this jinchuriki actually was.
When Han, wearing strange armor and a kasa hat, came to see the three of them, Ino finally realized that this person was truly a "tall man."
Kurotsuchi's father, Kitsuchi, was already built like a giant.
This Five-Tails jinchuriki, Han, was even taller than Kitsuchi. He was 2.28 meters tall! Excluding Fuguki Suikazan, that mutated large melon, the man before them was undoubtedly the tallest person in the ninja world.
When Han entered the room, Tsunade and the others were playing cards. Under Ino's "persuasion," Kurotsuchi had also joined them. The four of them were gathered in a circle, playing cards quite happily.
Kitsuchi didn't want the village to go to war with Konoha, and besides, he didn't think they could detain Tsunade and the other two by force.
Shizune was hard to say, but Ino was a strong individual; even he would have a hard time fighting her. Adding the even stronger Tsunade, if they fought inside the village, the destructive power wouldn't be much less than that of a tailed beast.
Kitsuchi tacitly allowed Kurotsuchi to play cards with them, wanting to diffuse the animosity between them.
He couldn't persuade his father, so he could only use this method to mediate.
At this moment, Han ducked his head and entered the room, sitting cross-legged on the floor like a thick wall.
The four of them stopped playing cards and looked at this silent, strange man.
Han emitted steam all over his body, and a pair of eyes with red eyeshadow were revealed amidst the mist.
His eyes scanned the three of them twice.
Han said to the Third Tsuchikage in a deep voice, "The one who used genjutsu to control me was not them."
"...Of course, I know it wasn't the three of them. Han, could it be other Uchiha ninjas?"
"I don't know."
The investigation lasted for seven days and ultimately yielded nothing.
Tsunade insisted that the whole incident was an Akatsuki conspiracy, but they couldn't produce any evidence. Iwagakure's Anbu, ninjas, and border guards hadn't seen any Akatsuki ninjas in black cloaks with red clouds leaving the country.
The Third Tsuchikage formally issued an expulsion order: "Tsunade, leave our village. Iwagakure does not welcome you!"
