As Lugia's protective barrier vanished, a pale blue, transparent beam of energy erupted from its mouth!
In an instant, it struck the Moltres that had just been knocked back! A violent explosion followed, thick black smoke billowing outward, and Moltres tumbled from the sky with the smoke trailing behind it!
"Skreee!!"
But due to Latios' parting gift, Lugia's offensive power had sharply dropped! Moltres, falling rapidly, opened its eyes the very next moment! Its wings flared, and it soared upward once more!
"Aaooo!!"
Lugia could clearly feel the weakness in its attack. Its gaze sharpened. With a resonant cry, majestic Dragon-type energy surged across its body!
With overwhelming force, Lugia shot forward in a devastating Dragon Rush, diving straight toward Moltres!

But just as Lugia closed in on Moltres, the Articuno that Aerodactyl had been carrying suddenly opened its eyes! Its stamina had already fully recovered. With a powerful flap of its wings, it broke free from Aerodactyl's claws!
A bright light flashed in its eyes—an ethereal blue eye appeared behind Lugia! The ghostly eye locked firmly onto Lugia, its gaze never leaving Lugia's figure for even a heartbeat!

Articuno spread its wings wide and unleashed a roaring Blizzard!
But this Blizzard was different—it was concentrated! All the icy winds condensed into a single massive torrent, swirling like an enormous dragon of ice and snow as it swept across the sky, roaring toward Lugia!
At that moment, Lugia—already moments away from reaching Moltres—felt the attack from behind. The chilling aura in the Blizzard made Lugia instinctively recoil. It abruptly changed direction, surging upward like a rising dragon to evade the Blizzard with agility.
However—
Just as Lugia believed it had dodged the attack completely, the Blizzard suddenly shifted direction—turning a full 90 degrees in an instant! With even greater speed, the icy torrent smashed into Lugia's back!

Lugia's cry echoed in Liam's mind. Smiling, Liam shouted his command and immediately ordered the three Legendary Birds to seize the opportunity!
"Cryaaah!!"
"Kreeeaaah!!"
Hearing Liam's orders, Articuno and Zapdos unleashed their powerful attacks at once! Lugia dared not be careless anymore—its Protect barrier flared to life, a deep-blue shimmer forming a sturdy shield around it. Ice Beam and Thunderbolt struck violently, shaking the barrier—yet failing to break it.
But then—
Now transformed into a radiant golden Sky Attack, Moltres descended like a divine spear! With unstoppable force, it slammed into Lugia's Protect barrier! For a brief moment, the two forces struggled—
Then—
A shattering sound like breaking glass rang out!
Lugia's barrier, previously unbreachable, finally shattered into countless deep-blue fragments!
Moltres' golden silhouette streaked past Lugia, and at the exact moment they crossed paths, Moltres' talon shot out—wreathed in blazing golden fire! With one swift motion, it seized Lugia's Great Sea Spirit Sapphire!
A flash of golden light followed, and Lugia—now without the Great Sea Spirit Sapphire—floated frozen in mid-air!
"Skreee!!"
Completing its attack, Moltres circled gracefully through the sky, shed its golden aura, and returned to Liam. It extended its talon, placing the Great Sea Spirit Sapphire into Liam's hand.
Liam accepted the Great Sea Spirit Sapphire, gently brushing his fingers over it in curiosity.

He looked at the gem in his hand, debating whether he should keep such a treasure.

But before Liam could decide, Lugia—now deprived of its Great Sea Spirit Sapphire—lifted its head and cried out mournfully! The high, echoing cry spread across the entire sea.
Then Liam heard Lugia's voice in his mind again—much weaker, almost fading.

Clearing away the frost covering its body with a flap of its wings, Lugia slowly descended before Liam. Its eyes were calm now—deep and tranquil like the ocean, with no trace of battle intent.
"Aooo… (This was an excellent battle. I fought to my heart's content—and learned how much I still lack. Your strength is impressive, young one. I can sense your potential… nearly limitless. You will certainly go far.)"
Lugia then lowered its head, plucking a silvery feather from beneath its massive wing. It gently offered the shimmering feather to Liam.
"Aaooo… (This is my gift to you—a token of remembrance. I will not intervene in anything else that comes after. I hope we can battle again someday. Farewell!)"
Weakened from losing the Great Sea Spirit Sapphire, Lugia's telepathic voice faded almost completely. After Liam accepted the Silver Feather, Lugia turned, nodded to both Liam and Harribel in the distance, then rose sharply into the sky. With a final loud cry, it folded its wings and dove into the sea like a silver fish—disappearing within moments.
Liam stared blankly at the ocean where Lugia had vanished. Then he looked at the feather in his hand, a slow and satisfied smile appearing on his lips.
