---------------------------------

By this time, dusk had already fallen—it had been three days since Liam's departure.

In the Kanto region, north of Lavender Town, past the Rock Tunnel and a little further south, sat an old, long-abandoned Power Plant nestled among the mountains.

"Gaaarr!"

At that moment, two uninvited guests arrived at the once-silent Power Plant.

"Click... So this is the abandoned Power Plant? It's really as rundown as the rumors say. I wonder if Zapdos is still here… I hope I didn't come all this way for nothing."

"Gaaarr!"

"Yeah, yeah, I know. We'll find out once we go inside. No need to remind me of the obvious. Let's go, Garchomp—it's your time to shine again."

"Roarr!!"

...…

That's right—the two intruders were none other than Liam and Garchomp.

Over the past three days, they had flown tirelessly—resting only when needed—until they finally reached this Power Plant. And, naturally, Liam's purpose here was clear.

Zapdos.

His goal was to capture the Legendary Bird of Thunder.

Originally, Liam had learned that these Legendary Pokémon couldn't normally be captured because of their mysterious, divine energy. He had no intention of challenging that fact.

But ever since discovering that special PokéBalls, crafted from rare materials, could hold these legendary beings, his resolve had begun to stir.

This time, he planned to capture both Zapdos and Articuno.

He already had Moltres safely sealed within the Flame Ball—crafted using its feather and 2000 exchange points. It showed no abnormalities whatsoever.

At the same time, Liam had spent another 2000 points using Articuno's dropped feather to synthesize an Freeze Ball, intended for his next target.

Now all that was missing was the Thunder Ball. Unfortunately, he lacked the necessary materials for it… meaning he'd have to obtain them here.

...….....

Liam and Garchomp stepped into the Power Plant, moving cautiously deeper inside.

Though abandoned for years, parts of the facility still operated autonomously. Sparks crackled everywhere, and a few faint lights continued to flicker—illuminating the corridors enough to see.

Moreover, the Power Plant constantly emitted strong electromagnetic waves, which had attracted numerous Electric-type Pokémon who made the area their territory.

So…

The moment Liam and Garchomp entered, they were seen as intruders trespassing on these Electric-types' domain.

"Bzzzt-bzzt!"

While walking down a passageway, Liam suddenly heard strange noises coming from a side corridor. Turning toward the sound, both he and Garchomp saw—

A massive group of Voltorb and Electrode, rolling toward them at full speed! Their bodies crackled with electricity, and the air buzzed with the intent to explode first, ask questions later!

"Garchomp! Don't let them get close! Use Stone Edge!"

Even Liam, experienced as he was, felt a chill run down his spine at the sight of so many living bombs charging in. He didn't hesitate for a moment and gave the order immediately.

"ROAR!"

Upon hearing the command, Garchomp slammed its claws into the metallic floor! The steel plating cracked under its strength, and sharp rocks burst upward through the corridor, blocking off the passage completely—trapping the volatile Electrode swarm inside.

"Nice work, Garchomp! Let's move—quickly! We can't linger here!"

Once Liam saw the path sealed, he sprinted deeper into the facility with Garchomp.

Why so fast? Because Liam knew well that some Voltorb and Electrode possessed the Aftermath ability—triggering explosions upon fainting. With that many of them crammed together, it was too risky to assume none did. Best to retreat first.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!!

Sure enough, moments after they fled, a deafening series of explosions thundered behind them. Liam didn't even need to look back to imagine the chaos.

But real men never look back at explosions—so he and Garchomp just kept sprinting forward, unfazed.

"Kreeeaaah!!"

Perhaps startled by the detonations, a sharp, echoing cry suddenly rang out from deeper within the Power Plant. The electric currents throughout the fourth floor immediately began to surge wildly.

"Ha! So it really is here! Looks like my timing couldn't be better!"

Liam's eyes lit up with excitement. That cry confirmed it—Zapdos was inside this facility! Without wasting another second, he and Garchomp accelerated toward the sound's origin.

"Magnemite! Magnemite!"

"Magneton! Magneton!"

The path ahead wasn't easy. The earlier explosions hadn't just disturbed Zapdos—they had also roused the other residents of the plant. Dozens of angry Magnemite and Magneton floated toward them, their crimson eyes glowing with hostility.

"Garchomp! Use Dragon Claw!"

"Roarr!"

With no time to waste, Liam ordered an immediate counterattack. Garchomp lunged forward, both claws glowing with draconic energy as it slashed through the swarm. Each blow sent a Magnemite or Magneton flying, the sheer force making even their steel bodies tremble in fear.

Within seconds, the hallway was clear—they scattered to the sides, too terrified to reappear.

"Bzzzt! Bzzzt!"

But just then, a small yellow Pokémon dashed out from the next corner—an Elekid! The little creature spun its twin plug-like arms rapidly, charging itself before ramming straight at them!

"Gaaarr!"

Expressionless, Garchomp swung one claw and sent the Elekid crashing into the wall with a loud thud.

"Bzzzt! Bzzzt!"

To Liam's surprise, the little Elekid didn't retreat. Despite the pain, it quickly got up again, electricity sparking as it stubbornly charged once more!

"Roar!"

Another swipe—sent flying again.

"Bzzzt!"

It rose once more.

"Gaaarr!"

Sent flying again.

"Bzzzt!"

Attacked again!

Even battered and exhausted, Elekid refused to give up. Any other Pokémon would have fainted by now—but this one's sheer tenacity made Liam's expression soften.

He couldn't help but smile.

"Alright then… I'll make you mine. Garchomp! Use Bulldoze!"

"Gaaarr!"

Garchomp stomped the ground fiercely, sending a shockwave of earthy energy blasting forward. The impact struck Elekid squarely, hurling it into the air.

At that perfect moment, Liam tossed a PokéBall with precision.

Click… click… click…

Ding!

The PokéBall chimed—a successful capture.

Elekid was his.
