"BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!"
When the explosion reached its peak, not only could the Cinnabar Island Gym hear it, but the sound echoed across nearly all of Cinnabar Town.
At that moment, everyone finally understood just how intense the battle between Eddie and Blaine truly was—the sounds of combat could be heard from so far away.
Although many people who wanted to witness the fight headed out to see the spectacle, they were stopped by some experienced trainers.
"This kind of battle is far more powerful than what you'd see between two Gym Leader-level trainers. It's basically certain that two Elite-level powerhouses are facing off against each other.
"Don't you understand how dangerous the aftermath of such a battle can be? I wouldn't even dare go in to watch the fight myself."
The veteran trainer's meaning was crystal clear: you could go watch such a battle if you wanted, as long as you were prepared to get injured by the shockwaves.
After all, Cinnabar Gym was just a gym. Although it wasn't particularly small, it wasn't enormous either. There was a viewing platform, but it wasn't very far from the battlefield. When quasi-Heavenly King-level powerhouses clashed, the aftermath could reach the spectators at any moment.
If this were an Alliance competition, things would be different, because those stadiums were large enough. One could safely watch battles between not only quasi-Heavenly King-level trainers, but even Pokémon Champion-level trainers with peace of mind.
As long as these trainers didn't go berserk and directly attack the viewing platform or the spectator seats, there normally wouldn't be any problems.
Everyone was shocked when they heard this explanation, and they realized that their impulse to watch the show just moments ago was equivalent to volunteering for a trip to the hospital. After that, everyone agreed they would wait until the Indigo Plateau Conference to watch these powerful trainers battle.
"However, Blaine is our Cinnabar Island Gym Leader, so it's natural for him to be strong. But Eddie has actually reached this level of strength too. He truly is a trainer from Pallet Town—absolutely terrifying."
The trainers naturally knew that the title of Pokémon Champion in the Kanto Region had basically been claimed by trainers from Pallet Town for generations.
That place was blessed with exceptional talent and natural beauty. In almost every Indigo Plateau Conference, powerful trainers would emerge from there who could dominate competitors from other cities.
"I guess the Pokémon Champion title of this Indigo Plateau Conference will also go to a trainer from Pallet Town."
Many trainers who were preparing to participate in the Indigo Plateau Conference were sighing with emotion. They also wanted to win the title of Pokémon Champion. However, the strongest trainer from their side, Cinnabar Island, was only at the elite level.
Trainers with elite-level strength were indeed not weak, but they fell far behind those at the Gym Leader level, not to mention Eddie, who was currently engaged in a gym battle with strength that was definitely at the quasi-Heavenly King level. The gap was simply insurmountable.
"It doesn't matter. If I can't get first place, I should at least aim for second place, or make it to the semi-finals."
With this mindset, the trainers of Cinnabar Island were now training harder, trying to improve their abilities as much as possible in order to secure a good ranking in the Indigo Plateau Conference.
Meanwhile, inside Cinnabar Gym, the battle between Eddie and Blaine reached its climax.
The Hyper Beam bombardment had ended, and the brilliant light had dissipated. However, due to the violent explosion caused by the attack, the stadium was now filled with thick smoke.
Neither Blaine nor Eddie could see where their own Pokémon or their opponent's Pokémon were located, so naturally they couldn't determine the outcome of the clash.
Actually, that wasn't quite true. In reality, only Blaine couldn't see the result. Eddie immediately used his Aura powers to see through the smokescreen and observe the positions and conditions of both Pokémon.
Mega Garchomp and Mega Camerupt were both still standing, and it appeared the situation was a draw.
However, both Pokémon were now panting heavily because they had used Hyper Beam with all their strength.
Mega Garchomp still seemed capable of moving—otherwise it wouldn't still be flying. Meanwhile, Mega Camerupt's four legs were trembling at this moment.
In the previous exchange, the pressure it endured while standing on the ground was much greater than what Mega Garchomp experienced in the air. It had also just used a move with serious side effects, so it was natural for it to be a little unsteady.
"Mega Garchomp, now is the perfect opportunity. Do you still have the energy to launch one final attack?"
Eddie communicated telepathically with Mega Garchomp directly through his Aura.
Mega Garchomp was startled when it heard this, and then realized that its trainer seemed to have learned some extraordinary abilities.
However, as a Pokémon, it wouldn't question why Eddie possessed such an ability. Instead, it responded to Eddie honestly in that moment.
"Although I'm somewhat exhausted, I can still battle again after a brief rest. It's not impossible to launch another attack right now. However, if I force an attack at this time, it will take much longer to recover afterward."
Mega Garchomp's meaning was perfectly clear. While in this weakened state, it wasn't impossible to force an attack, but if that attack didn't secure victory, it would essentially mean defeat.
"One hit is all we need! At this height! Use that move!"
"The target is four meters directly in front of you. Aim carefully and defeat it!"
Eddie made his decision instantly and reported Mega Camerupt's current location to Mega Garchomp, allowing it to target its opponent accurately.
"ROOOAAAR!!!"
Upon hearing this, Mega Garchomp responded to Eddie with another deafening dragon roar.
"What? With your vision completely blocked, Eddie, what are you planning to do?!"
Because of the smoke, Blaine couldn't see the Pokémon, let alone Eddie on the opposite side of the battlefield. But when he heard that dragon's roar, he immediately understood that Eddie was about to make his move again.
Just as Blaine had said, his vision was almost entirely blocked by the smoke, and he had wanted to wait for it to dissipate before giving his next command.
After all, everyone knew what the side effects of Hyper Beam were. He had assumed Eddie was in the same situation as him, planning to take advantage of the time when both sides couldn't launch attacks to let their Pokémon recover.
Yet it seemed that Eddie was about to attack. Attacking without being able to see the enemy—was he planning to gamble everything on this?
Of course, if Blaine had known that Eddie possessed the power of Aura and psychic abilities, he wouldn't have thought Eddie was gambling at all.
Whether it was Aura power or psychic abilities, sensing the enemy's position was extremely easy with either one.
However, although Blaine didn't know Eddie had such abilities, he also knew that Eddie wasn't a reckless person. Eddie must have been confident in his actions to do something like this.
"I see! In that case, Mega Camerupt, use Amnesia to boost your defense!"
Blaine knew that Mega Camerupt couldn't attack at the moment, but it could still use non-offensive moves like this one.
He didn't dare follow Eddie's example and bet everything on a single attack. After all, he had such a huge advantage right now—why would he gamble?! He would prepare defensive measures, and as long as he could withstand this attack, he, Blaine, would be the victor!
Blaine thought to himself: "How can I lose when I have such a tremendous advantage?!"
