"Hahaha, this really made me laugh so hard."

"Eevee, go thaw out this poor Blastoise."

Eddie was still laughing uncontrollably, but he managed to direct Eevee to help the frozen Blastoise.

"Buey~~~"

Eevee was also struggling to control its laughter, but after hearing Eddie's instructions, it forced itself to stop smiling and prepared to help thaw Blastoise.

At that moment, the effects of Rain Dance happened to end, and the rain stopped falling.

Eevee no longer needed to help Eddie and Green deflect the rain. It jumped down from Eddie's head and transformed directly from Espeon into a much larger Flareon.

For some reason, Eevee became significantly larger when it evolved into Fire, Water, or Electric types, but remained basically normal size in its other forms.

Eddie had asked Eevee about this phenomenon, but it didn't know either. Eddie could only assume it was something Team Rocket had done to it. Since then, both trainer and Pokémon had stopped worrying about it for the time being. It didn't seem to cause any harm, at least for now.

The enlarged Flareon launched a Flame Wheel at the frozen Blastoise, directly engulfing the ice-covered Pokémon.

When a frozen Pokémon is hit by a Fire-type attack, the ice melts away.

Flareon carefully controlled its power, gradually melting the ice encasing Blastoise bit by bit, then immediately stopped the attack once the ice was completely thawed.

"Sorry, Blastoise. Please come back and rest for a while."

Green apologized, though a smile still lingered on her face. In this situation, she recalled Blastoise to its Poké Ball.

"How about it, Dragonair? Do you still want to continue fighting?"

Eddie asked this while looking at Dragonair, who also seemed to be enjoying the humor of the situation.

Dragonair finally remembered that it was still technically in a crisis.

Well, at least it considered itself to be in one.

However, seeing Green's willingness to have her own Pokémon take damage to protect it, and the fact that Eddie wasn't scolding Green for this decision, Dragonair began to feel that the two humans in front of it might not be bad people after all.

Moreover, it was still in poor condition with visible injuries. If Eddie and Green had malicious intentions, they wouldn't be taking time to talk with it now. Wouldn't it be easier to just continue attacking?

"Mmmmm~~~"

Just as Dragonair was still considering whether to continue fighting, flee immediately, or attempt to negotiate, the Dratini behind it made its move.

It seemed to have realized from the beginning that Eddie and Green had no ill intentions, and that it was its parent's excessive caution that had caused the conflict between the two sides.

The Dratini swam quickly to shore, then approached Eddie's side, climbed onto his body, and wrapped around his neck affectionately.

Although Dratini was a Dragon-type with its own scales, its body felt remarkably smooth, like a piece of blue jade, cool and pleasant to the touch.

Eddie found himself thoroughly enjoying the sensation of petting the Dratini.

"Fuwu~~~Fuwu~~~" (It seems I got beaten up for nothing)

When Dragonair saw this scene, it immediately realized that it had been overly suspicious and had indeed been hurt unnecessarily.

But thinking about getting beaten up reminded it of the unfortunate Blastoise, and thinking of Blastoise reminded Dragonair of Green, who had just helped protect it.

"Fuwu~~~" (Thank you)

Dragonair dragged its injured body over to Green and gently nudged her with its head.

Although Green couldn't understand what Dragonair was saying, she could tell from its behavior that it was expressing gratitude.

"You're welcome. Just don't hold it against him for being so intense in battle. Here, let me apply some medicine to your wounds."

Green made sure to speak well of Eddie, then took out some healing items to treat Dragonair's injuries.

(Blastoise: "Hey! What about me?!")

"Fuwu~~~~" (Hold it against him? Why would I do that? How can you hold back during a real fight?)

Dragonair looked puzzled when it heard this, not understanding why Green would say such a thing.

In its understanding—or rather, in any Pokémon's understanding—unless there were special circumstances, you fought with everything you had. There was no such thing as holding back.

If Dragonair had held back in previous battles, it would have been captured by others long ago. How could it have grown to its current strength?

Since it couldn't afford to hold back and had just used its full power in the fight, how could it blame Eddie for fighting seriously?

Furthermore, Eddie had defeated it using Greninja, which was weaker than itself. Even with Blastoise's assistance, the victory was still impressive.

Eddie's ability to accomplish this made Dragonair respect him as a formidable opponent. It had been prepared to be defeated and captured earlier. Its final defensive action was simply because it didn't want its child to be hurt.

As for what would happen after being captured, Dragonair didn't know. It could only hope that Eddie wasn't one of those Pokémon hunters who would separate it from its child and sell them.

But now it seemed that Eddie and Green weren't that type of people, so it felt relieved.

"Come on, Green, do you really think Dragonair cares about that? In battle, the only ones who hold back are either showing off or are overwhelmingly strong."

"I'm not overwhelmingly strong compared to this Dragonair, and I'm not the showing-off type. Fighting with full strength is completely normal."

Eddie walked over with Dratini still wrapped around his neck and explained to Green.

In the past, Eddie might not have understood Pokémon psychology, but with the Power of Viridian in this life, he had gained much more insight into how Pokémon thought and survived.

"Yes, yes, yes~~~ Eddie, you're absolutely right. I'm just a silly little girl, Green. I'm getting lectured even for trying to say something nice about you~~ Hmph~~~"

Green pretended to be dissatisfied. She had clearly been speaking well of Eddie, but ended up being corrected by both Eddie and Dragonair. Feigning displeasure, she stuck out her tongue playfully.

Seeing Green make such expressions with her charming face, Eddie couldn't help but feel his heart skip a beat. If he weren't concerned about keeping things appropriate, Eddie would definitely go over and engage in some more intimate conversation with Green.

"How could I criticize you, Green? Thank you for speaking up for me just now."

To keep things proper, Eddie could only smile and gently pat Green's head, thanking her and giving her an affectionate head pat as a reward.

Surprisingly, looking at Eddie's warm smile, Green didn't brush away his comforting gesture. Instead, her face turned slightly red, and she felt a warm sensation in her heart.

It felt good to have someone care about her.

Green thought this happily.
