 "Greninja! Ice Punch counterattack!"

Seeing that Dragonair's Dragon Tail was about to connect with Greninja, Eddie naturally wouldn't sit back and watch this happen.

Since dodging at such close range was impossible, he decided to use Ice Punch to counter the incoming attack.

Furthermore, Ice Punch is an Ice-type move. When used against the Dragon-type Dragonair, it was difficult to predict who would come out on top in this direct confrontation.

Greninja's physical attack stat was originally quite average, as its strengths lay in special attack and speed. However, after its bond evolution, its attack power had also been greatly enhanced.

Combined with its ability, when using Ice Punch, Eddie believed that the power of this move would still be quite considerable.

"Fuwu~~~"

The outcome was exactly as Eddie had anticipated. Dragonair's Dragon Tail and Greninja's Ice Punch collided with tremendous force.

Although the impact successfully knocked Greninja back to the ground, Dragonair also cried out in pain, clearly injured from the exchange.

Several frozen patches now covered its tail.

However, since it was currently a sunny day, Pokémon wouldn't be frozen in this type of weather. Therefore, Dragonair didn't need to worry about being affected by the additional freezing effect of Ice Punch.

Nevertheless, it still had to endure the full damage from the Ice Punch, which explained its pained cry moments earlier.

"Although Greninja was also hurt, it's in much better condition than Dragonair!"

"Green! Are you ready?"

Eddie seized the opportunity while Dragonair was still recovering from its injury and called out to Green.

"Of course I'm ready! Go, Blastoise! Rain Dance!"

Green responded to Eddie and immediately commanded Blastoise to use Rain Dance.

The purpose wasn't for anything else but to override the current Sunny Day weather.

After all, in this type of weather, the effectiveness of Water-type moves would be significantly reduced.

"Greninja! Work Up! Then follow with Hydro Pump!"

"Quack!!!"

Greninja focused its energy, and its body began to glow with a faint red aura, instantly boosting both its attack and special attack stats.

At the same time, Blastoise extended the two cannons on its back and fired beams of energy containing water vapor into the sky.

Dark clouds quickly gathered overhead, covering the sunny weather, and a gentle drizzle began to fall.

"Buey~~~"

Eevee, who had been hovering quietly above Eddie's head with a surprisingly low presence in recent battles, let out a soft cry.

It then evolved into Espeon, using its psychic powers to deflect the rain that was falling on Eddie and Green.

"This Eevee can evolve and devolve at will?"

Green only noticed Eevee's unusual condition at this moment. Earlier, she and Eddie had been caught up in their conversation and hadn't noticed that Jolteon had devolved back into Eevee.

Since Eevee had been staying quietly above Eddie's head, Green hadn't noticed the change right away.

As for Pikachu, that Pokémon was even more wary of strangers than Eevee. While Eevee was simply too timid to interact, Pikachu had retreated straight back into its Poké Ball.

It seemed that both of these Pokémon remained cautious around humans other than Eddie.

"Team Rocket was responsible. It didn't have good experiences with people, so it doesn't get close to anyone except me."

Eddie didn't elaborate much. Green only needed to know that Team Rocket was the culprit behind their wariness.

"Don't worry about that now. Dragonair is about to attack again, so pay attention!"

Since they were in the middle of a battle, Eddie briefly explained to Green and then refocused on the fight.

Green was understanding. She nodded and turned her attention back to the battlefield.

"Fuwu~~~"

When Dragonair noticed the weather changing, it wanted to use its ability to alter the weather conditions once again.

However, seeing that Greninja had already powered up and was now opening its mouth to launch a Hydro Pump attack, Dragonair reconsidered its strategy.

When Water-type moves hit Dragon-type Pokémon, the damage is normally reduced by half.

However, Greninja's ability ensured that any move it used would receive a 1.5x damage boost. Additionally, now that the weather had turned rainy, Water-type moves would be further enhanced.

Finally, Greninja had just used Work Up, which increased both its attack and special attack stats.

Under these circumstances, the Dragon-type's resistance to Water-type moves alone wouldn't be enough to counter all of Greninja's accumulated boosts. It would be foolish to try to resist Greninja's attack head-on.

This Dragonair wasn't stupid—quite the opposite, it was very intelligent. So instead of trying to change the weather, it chose to counterattack.

"Fuwu~~~"

Dragonair glared at Greninja, gathering energy within its body before quickly directing it toward the sky.

With Dragonair's action, the sound of thunder rumbled across the rainy battlefield.

"Damn! This Dragonair is incredible. It even learned Thunder on its own. What else can't it do?"

Eddie instantly recognized what move Dragonair was using, and even he couldn't help but curse in amazement.

So far, the moves that this Dragonair had learned independently exceeded his expectations.

He hadn't examined the Pokédex entry carefully due to Dragonair's aggressive behavior, otherwise he wouldn't be so surprised now.

But there was nothing he could have done differently, as Dragonair had attacked without warning. He and Green had only managed to read some basic information before the battle began, so they had no idea that this Dragonair possessed such an extensive moveset.

"Quack!"

"Fuwu!"

While Eddie was expressing his amazement, Greninja and Dragonair launched their attacks simultaneously.

Hydro Pump burst forth from Greninja's mouth, meeting Dragonair's Thunder attack descending from above.

"Oh no, Water-types are weak to Grass-types and Electric-types. This time Greninja is in trouble."

Eddie's expression became serious. He knew that no matter how powerful a move was, it would only be effective if it successfully hit the opponent.

In this case, when the Hydro Pump and Thunder collided, the one using the Water-type move would be at a severe disadvantage.

It wasn't about raw power—it was simply because water conducts electricity!

The Greninja launching the Hydro Pump would naturally be electrocuted once the Thunder attack conducted through the water.

"This is bad!"

The situation unfolded exactly as Eddie had feared. Greninja was electrocuted by the Thunder and screamed in agony.

It wasn't that Eddie didn't want to counter or avoid this attack, but the two moves had already collided, and Greninja was being hurt by the electrical conduction.

At this moment, Eddie could only think about his next move, because Greninja was being electrocuted and couldn't interrupt the ongoing Thunder attack.

"Blastoise! Get over there and use Protect!"

While Eddie was considering what to do after Greninja sustained heavy damage, Green beside him gave orders to Blastoise.

Blastoise looked at the Thunder attack with obvious fear, but due to its trainer's command, it reluctantly rushed toward Greninja with a determined expression.

After positioning itself in front of Greninja, Blastoise resolutely used its body to shield Greninja from the Thunder attack.

As it intercepted the attack, Blastoise was also electrocuted and cried out in pain. Fortunately, it immediately activated the move Protect. After enduring several seconds of electrical damage, the Thunder attack was finally blocked by the protective barrier.

"...Is there such an amazing strategy? Green, that was incredible!"
