Just moments ago when Blastoise was attacked by Petal Blizzard, Venusaur had performed several strategic operations under Eddie's careful command.
Growth followed by Petal Dance—after its Attack and Special Attack stats were enhanced, Venusaur directly employed one of its strongest moves aside from Solar Beam and Frenzy Plant.
Blastoise's face was twitching with anxiety, and it realized it couldn't surrender now. It also understood that it was completely surrounded and couldn't avoid this devastating attack. It would have to use Withdraw and Iron Defense to attempt resisting this assault.
However, these moves enhanced physical Defense rather than Special Defense. Moreover, Petal Dance utilized flower petals as projectiles. It was useless for Blastoise to retreat into its shell, because the petals could easily enter through gaps to strike it directly.
As for why it didn't use Protect, it could sense that this move seemed designed to last for 2-3 consecutive turns. If Protect was used repeatedly, it basically couldn't be employed continuously unless it got extremely lucky.
But it obviously didn't realize that Petal Dance was a special attack, and it simply used the defensive skills it possessed based on instinct.
This was a Pokémon without a Trainer's guidance. Even though it displayed some intelligence, it relied on its own personality and instincts during battle. The probability of making critical misjudgments was much greater than that of a Pokémon with proper Trainer support.
"Blastoise!! Blastoise Blastoise Blastoise!" (Ah! It hurts so much, so much, so much! I surrender, surrender! Stop the attack!)
When the petal assault began, Blastoise retreated into its shell and continuously screamed in agony. Now it was desperately pleading for mercy.
Of course, this creature was extremely cunning. It might not genuinely surrender at this moment. It was very likely that it would go back on its word once the attack ceased.
Moreover, it possessed an egg move called Mirror Coat, which was incredibly powerful.
Mirror Coat: Returns double the special damage the user received from the last attack as fixed damage.
Note: This move ignores type effectiveness interactions!
Yes, Blastoise was currently being attacked by the special move Petal Dance. If Eddie stopped the assault without knocking it out completely, it would immediately counterattack with this devastating technique.
Since this move ignored type advantages and disadvantages, Venusaur might be defeated in a single strike.
Additionally, the move Petal Dance carried negative side effects. After the attack ended, Venusaur would fall into a confused condition.
So regardless of circumstances, Eddie would not cease the offensive. He intended to defeat Blastoise completely to end this battle decisively.
Of course, this cunning opponent was actually very much to Eddie's liking—otherwise Eddie wouldn't have accommodated Blastoise's request and agreed to battle it using Venusaur.
After several minutes of sustained assault, Venusaur's attack finally concluded.
Although Venusaur had fallen into a confused condition, Blastoise was also thoroughly defeated, so the victor of this battle was naturally Eddie.
"Blastoise~~~~Blastoise~~~~" (That was really ruthless~~~ I made another mistake~~~)
Blastoise spoke with obvious depression, looking at Eddie with helplessness evident in its eyes.
Clearly, it had simply wanted to fake surrender in order to deceive Eddie, but Eddie hadn't fallen for the ruse.
Eddie used his Power of Viridian to heal Venusaur, allowing it to recover from its confused condition.
Then he approached Blastoise and began treating its injuries with a smile, but he said something that made Blastoise break out in a cold sweat.
"Are you convinced now? If not, I can play with you some more."
Blastoise stood up immediately after receiving Eddie's healing treatment, frantically waving a white flag that appeared from seemingly nowhere.
It absolutely didn't want to battle Eddie again, because it clearly sensed that Eddie's words contained a hint of menace. If it didn't learn proper behavior, it might end up requiring serious medical attention.
"Blastoise!! Blastoise! Blastoise Blastoise?!" (Wait! This guy can heal me—is he planning to beat me until I have only one breath left, then heal me, and then continue beating me! Will this cycle continue indefinitely!?)
Blastoise suddenly realized this terrifying possibility and waved the white flag even more frantically.
"Hmph~ You're finally being smart. Now you need to enter this Ultra Ball voluntarily." Eddie sneered slightly. He wasn't particularly merciful by nature. He had only accommodated Blastoise because its attitude appealed to him.
If this creature pushed its luck too far, he would let it experience the pleasure of a thorough beating.
Eddie spoke as he retrieved an Ultra Ball and gestured for Blastoise to take initiative.
Blastoise looked at Eddie but didn't immediately enter the ball. Instead, it turned to regard its gang members.
The younger Pokémon also understood that their boss was departing and gazed at Blastoise with intense focus.
Although Blastoise didn't speak, its meaning was perfectly clear. It was worried about how its followers would survive after its departure.
"Are you concerned about them? Then let them all become my Pokémon together, but they won't be part of my main team. I'll send them to Professor Oak's research facility to live comfortably."
"Don't worry—they won't lack food or shelter at Professor Oak's laboratory. At minimum, your gang members will live worry-free lives and won't have to extort and rob people like you've been doing."
Blastoise would soon become his Pokémon, and Eddie had always treated his Pokémon exceptionally well. Besides, this was merely a small favor, and handling it properly would make Blastoise more loyal afterward.
"Blastoise? Blastoise Blastoise!" (Really? Thank you so much, my Trainer!)
Blastoise heard this promise and its eyes filled with tears, as if a heavy burden had been lifted from its heart, and it directly addressed Eddie as its Trainer.
Of course, the other squritles were also extremely happy upon hearing that they would have secure food and shelter in their future.
After Eddie produced the Poké Balls, they eagerly and voluntarily entered their respective containers.
After these four Pokémon had entered their Poké Balls, Blastoise nodded approvingly and then willingly entered Eddie's Ultra Ball.
In such a cooperative situation, the Poké Ball didn't shake at all, and the successful capture indicator light illuminated immediately.
"Charizard, Venusaur, Blastoise—I've now captured all three starter Pokémon from the Kanto Region, which is quite satisfying indeed."
Eddie examined the first nine numbered entries on his Pokédex, which represented the three evolutionary forms of Kanto's starter Pokémon.
He had only possessed one Charizard before his reincarnation, but now he owned all three of Kanto's starter evolutionary lines.
This realization filled him with both nostalgia and satisfaction.
However, he only reflected briefly, since he needed to continue his adventure, and there was nothing particularly intoxicating about lingering here.
He recalled all his Pokémon except Garchomp and mounted it to fly toward the nearest Pokémon Center.
First, he would send Blastoise's former gang members to their new home, and then he would resume his adventure.
"But I feel like I'm forgetting something..."
Eddie thought this while riding on Garchomp's back, but he only pondered it briefly before dismissing the concern.
After all, if he could forget something so easily, it probably wasn't particularly important, so there was no need to dwell on it.
"Help~~~"
"Someone please save us~~~"
"I'm so hungry, meow~~~ I really want to eat ramen, meow~~~"
The three Team Rocket members who had been suspended from the tree were finally beginning to thaw.
However, they remained completely tied up and couldn't reach their Poké Balls with their hands, so they couldn't rescue themselves.
Most importantly, they still hadn't eaten their lunch, and they were so hungry that they could barely stop screaming...
Well, what a truly pitiful story...
"I'm so hungry... What a disgusting feeling..."
