Lucian didn't look back after hearing Evelynine's words; he simply gave a small nod and left the room, retracing his steps down the palace corridor.
Once the door closed, silence reclaimed Evelynine's chamber. She opened her eyes slowly, gazing at the palace ceiling with a vacant expression.
"Who was that man?" she murmured, sighing softly.
She snapped her fingers, and instantly, several of her shadowy guards reappeared. "Do you think he's trustworthy, Your Majesty?" one of the guards finally broke the silence.
Evelynine didn't answer immediately. Her sharp blue eyes remained fixed on the window, as if trying to see something invisible. "No one is entirely trustworthy in politics," she finally said, her voice flat but containing a hidden tension.
"But one thing is certain," she continued, a slight upward curve to her lips in an unreadable smile. "That man knows more than he should. And that… could be an advantage, or a disaster."
