Kane looked over at Chantelle. She was focused on driving, which meant he was free to tell Railer about their godfather.
But Kane wasn't the best storyteller. The more he talked, the more confused Railer was.
Stephanie swiftly intervened. "Our godfather is Mommy's main doctor. When she gave birth to us, she was really weak. If he hadn't taken care of us, we probably wouldn't have made it."
The kids didn't know the full truth about Xander, so they didn't share much about who he really was.
"There was one time some bad guys tried to kill us," Kane added. "Our godfather saved us. He got slashed on the back while protecting us, and the scar is still there."
Stephanie nodded. "It was really scary. Mommy thought we weren't going to make it. Then, out of nowhere, our godfather showed up like a superhero."
"Was it as bad as when Daddy saved us?" Railer interjected as Kane continued talking without stopping.
