In the afternoon, after spending an hour returning to Tokyo, Uesugi Sakura met his father-in-law at the police station entrance.
"Where did you go to play?"
"Sagami Lake, over in Kanagawa."
"Not too far," Hanamaru Hiroki glanced at Hanamaru Hanabi in the driver's seat, then said to Uesugi Sakura in front of him, "Don't you plan on learning to drive?"
The implication was, as such a tall man, do you feel comfortable letting your wife drive for you?
"I...haven't had much time lately."
"No time? What have you been doing lately?"
Uesugi Sakura explained, "Working at the cafe and writing a novel, the first volume is almost finished."
Uesugi Sakura thought his father-in-law would ask about the novel, but surprisingly, he just nodded to indicate he understood:
"Hmm."
Hanamaru Hiroki glanced again at Hanamaru Hanabi in the driver's seat and said, "You two go ahead and drive the car back, I won't be needing it today."
"Okay." Uesugi Sakura agreed.
