I felt a part of me tear apart when Aurora walked away. I couldn't understand why, but I couldn't control my wolf, who whined for his mate. "Shut up, Ares. We can't force her to stay with us," I scolded him as I turned and walked out of the pack house. The weight of the moment pressed down on me, and I knew I had to collect myself.
"But our mate needs us right now! It's because of your foolishness that we lost her," he retorted, frustration lacing his voice. I rolled my eyes at him. Even during her time in Spain, he hadn't been this adamant and whiny. Ever since Aurora returned home, he had been relentless, pushing me to stay close to her.
