As Stefan drove the car to the hospital, Genevieve sat in front with him, while Jamal and Abigail sat in the back.
Abigail's right hand was enclosed in Jamal's hand and she rested her head on his shoulder as she thought about the meeting with Ryan.
"Do you think he's going to be remorseful?" Abigail asked Jamal quietly.
"I don't know. Would it make a difference, though?" Jamal asked, and Abigail sighed deeply.
She shook her head. "I don't know. I guess I just need to see him and hear what he has to say. But I'm a little anxious," she confessed.
"Why?"
"I have this pit in my stomach. I don't know why, I just have a bad feeling."
"He's not going to hurt you. I'll be with you," Jamal promised, lifting her hand to his lips.
He then reached for his phone in his pocket when it started vibrating.
"It's Emily," he told Abigail before receiving the call. "How are you, Em? Are you alright?"
