Her tone became sharper as she continued, "But if that is what you believe, you are completely wrong."
For a moment, silence hung between them. Isabella studied Aurora carefully, her smile fading little by little. Then she let out a cold laugh.
"Why do you like to go against me, Aurora? You do not even have the power to protect your own family, let alone yourself. Without power, your words are useless."
Aurora tilted her head back slightly and gave a laugh of her own.
"Do you really think that I am making some thoughtless plan? Isabella, you underestimate me. I always have a plan. I am not reckless. And if you think you can hurt my family and escape without punishment, then you are dead wrong."
At those words, Isabella's eyes narrowed dangerously. Her lips parted, and she asked in a sharp tone, "Then tell me this. Were you the one behind the Lancaster family's scandal?"
