Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Hassle in The Castle

The next day, Batman was holding Shirley while they swung across town on his Batrope. Then someone shot a laser at the Batrope, cutting it. Then both fell to the ground and landed at L.A.S.H.'s feet. Shirley said, "Not you guys again." Shirley then saw their matching t-shirts with their group name. Shirley said, "Wait, you guys are calling yourselves 'Lash'?" Sherry said, "It stands for 'League Against Shirley Hudson'."

Batman grabbed Shirley and ran off with her. While Batman and Shirley were running, a dragon with the mysterious figure on its back flew above them and landed in front of the villains. The ghostly figure climbed off the back of the dragon, blasted the villains with his wand, and turned them into pigeons. Then the mysterious figure put all the villains in a bird cage and took them with him. Shirley said, "Now the mysterious figure has Superman and my enemies." The mysterious figure then got back on the dragon, and he flew them back to their hideout.

While the dragon was flying them both back to their hideout, he set all the ice cream stores on fire and dried up all the pools with his fire breath, ruining summer for all the kids. Since they had no choice in the matter, all the parents sent their kids to boot camp to teach them a lesson. Shirley said, "Not good." Batman said, "Don't worry, Shirley, we'll put an end to this and save everybody." Shirley said, "Wait, the town getting destroyed by kids makes parents unhappy, so now the parents are sending their kids to boot camp, which makes the kids unhappy. Maybe they're connected to this mystery and each other somehow." Batman said, "You may have something there." Shirley said, "The only question is where would they hide?" Batman said, "I know just where to look."

Batman drove him and Shirley to the old, abandoned castle in his Batmobile. When they got there, a bolt of lightning appeared over the castle. Shirley said, "This place looks like it hasn't been used in over a hundred years." Batman said, "Exactly, what would be a better place for a dragon and mysterious figure to hide in?" Shirley said, "Good point."

Batman saw that the drawbridge was closed, so he used his Batrope to climb to the top of the tower. When he got to the top, he saw the dragon, and the dragon saw him. Batman threw three Batarangs at the dragon, but the dragon destroyed them with his fire breath. Then the dragon whipped Batman away with its tail. Shirley was watching everything through her binoculars. Shirley said, "Looks like Batman is in trouble." Shirley used her rope to bring down the drawbridge. Before Shirley went in, she looked through her binoculars and saw the dragon grab Batman. The mysterious figure came to the towers, blasted Batman with his wand, and turned him into a rabbit. Then the mysterious figure put Batman in his hat and used his wand to vanish. Shirley said, "Looks like I'm on my own."

Shirley walked across the drawbridge and went inside the castle. Shirley took her flashlight from her backpack and used it to look around the castle. Shirley cast her light on a wall and saw a painting of a king and queen, with the queen holding their baby princess. Shirley looked next to the painting and saw a tapestry depicting the same king and queen, but the princess was older. Shirley said, "This could be a clue. The princess in the painting is only a baby, but the princess on the tapestry looks like she's at the age of ten."

Shirley looked at the names on the painting and read them. Shirley said, "King Steven, Queen AnaBeth. and Princess Tiara." Shirley looked ahead of her, saw a light at the end of the hallway, and turned off her flashlight. When she turned off her flashlight, all the torches in the castle lit up. Shirley said, "How'd that happen?" Shirley put her flashlight in her backpack and walked across the next hallway. Shirley saw a door and tried to open it, but a suit of armor's arm dropped, and its sword went in front of the door. Shirley said, "I guess going in this door is out of the question." Shirley saw a door with a Keep Out sign. Shirley opened the door and saw a bunch of magic stuff along with a large cage. Shirley looked inside the cage and saw a handkerchief, a bunch of pigeons, and a rabbit. Shirley said, "Guys, don't worry, I'll save you."

While Shirley was talking to Superman, her foes, and Batman, the mysterious figure snuck into the room and saw her. Then the mysterious figure took three thick wires, threw them over Shirley, and tied her to a chair. While Shirley was tied up, the mysterious figure went over to his vanishing box and pushed it toward Shirley. The ghostly figure opened the box, stepped into it, and the box shut. When the box opened, the mysterious figure vanished. Shirley said, "I've got to get out of here."

Shirley looked at the cage with Superman, her foes, and Batman, and got an idea. Shirley rolled her chair over to the cage, spun around, and showed Batman her ropes. Shirley said, "Hey, Batman, you're a rabbit, maybe you can chew me out of these ropes." Batman grabbed Shirley's ropes and started to chew on them. When Batman got through the ropes, he broke Shirley free. Shirley said, "Don't worry, I'll come back for you guys."

Shirley left the room and looked around the castle for clues. Shirley opened a door and saw a room filled with computers. Shirley sat down in one of the chairs and typed on the keyboard. Then the giant screen showed her a picture of all the kids in boot camp, another of miserable adults in a destroyed town with no kids, and another of a dragon terrorizing Gotham City. Shirley said, "This must be where the mysterious figure does his dirty work." Shirley pushed a green button on the control panel, and the floor beneath her chair opened. Then Shirley fell through the chute and landed in the dungeon. Shirley said, "Where am I?" Shirley looked around and saw a bunch of doors with bars on the windows. Shirley said, "I must be in the dungeon."

Shirley took out her flashlight from her backpack and looked around the dungeon. Shirley said, "Let's see here a mouse hole, an old skeleton, a pair of red glowing eyes, another old skeleton." Shirley paused for a moment and got scared. Shirley said, "Wait, red glowing eyes?" Shirley cast her flashlight on the eyes and saw them again. Then smoke appeared under them, and they started to growl. Shirley said, "This could be very bad." The dragon came out of the shadows, grabbed Shirley, flew her out of the castle and into the sky, and held her up to his red glowing eyes. Shirley struggled, trying to break free. The dragon said, "Oh dear, you're not going to cry now, are you. My master is going to get what he wants; he doesn't need you or your good or evil friends anymore. It's over." Shirley said, "It's not over, not yet." The dragon said, "Oh my dear Shirley, you can't possibly hope to defeat me or my master when your superheroes could not. Your past foes are gone, and summer is ruined for everybody." Shirley said, "You may have ruined summer, but that doesn't mean I can't save it."

The dragon got mad when Shirley said that and threw her at the tower. Then the dragon slapped her away from the tower with his tail, and Shirley almost fell off the side of the castle. Shirley held on as long as she could, but was losing her grip. Then a rabbit threw a red, yellow, and blue handkerchief at her. Shirley grabbed it, and the rabbit pulled her down; she landed on her feet. Shirley said, "Wow, even when you're not yourselves, you guys can still be heroes." Shirley put both Batman and Superman in her backpack to keep them safe. Then she crossed the drawbridge and went back into the castle. Shirley stopped in the middle of a hallway and sat down in a chair. Shirley said, "I've looked almost everywhere in the castle except the tower."

Shirley walked across the hallways and found a staircase to the roof. When Shirley was halfway up, she heard a noise. Shirley said, "What's that?" Shirley looked up the stairs and saw guard dogs coming down them. Shirley said, "I think the smart thing to do is, RUN!" Shirley ran down the stairs, but more guard dogs ran up the stairs, so Shirley ran up the stairs and saw more guard dogs. Shirley was trapped between the guard dogs running up the stairs and those running down. Shirley said, "I'm doomed!"

The mysterious figure saw Shirley on his security monitors. Then the mysterious figure laughed evilly. Shirley said, "I can't run, I can't climb, what am I gonna do?" Shirley walked back when the guard dogs got too close, then fell off the stairs. Shirley fell thirty feet down, screaming, and landed in the throne room on the queen's throne. Shirley got off the throne and left the room. When she got out of the throne room, the mysterious figure saw her and pulled a rope. A net dropped down from the ceiling and landed on Shirley. The ghostly figure said, "Got you."
