Chapter 422 - Ch 422 : Kaguya in Konoha

Kaguya changed out of her original loose white robe into a new outfit—a form-fitting white long dress.

She still exuded an air of dignified nobility, and somehow, her long white hair, which had previously reached the ground, was now neatly draped over her shoulders.

Her body had also shrunk considerably, now resembling that of a normal human.

However, the two horns on her head remained, making her look like an unusually strange member of the Hyuga clan.

But there was no denying her beauty.

As Kaguya stepped out and looked at the kneeling Samui, her white eyes flickered slightly, and she secretly cursed in her heart: Lowly mortal breed!

She averted her gaze, still wondering—had the cultural style changed so drastically? Why was everything inside so plain…

She simply stood there until Samui finally rose to her feet.

"The clothes fit well," Makoto remarked as he examined Kaguya's figure.

"I… this one adjusted her body to match the clothing's measurements," Kaguya replied.

Makoto nodded. "That's quite a useful ability. In a bit, Samui will take you to your new residence."

Kaguya asked, "Will I be serving just like the other servants?"

Her words made Samui glance at her, frowning slightly as she thought to herself—this woman really doesn't hold back.

Makoto chuckled. "No need for that at night. Just come here during the day to serve."

Kaguya added, "This one does not require sleep."

"Even if you don't, I still need to sleep."

Makoto stretched lazily, adjusted his pants, and then instructed Samui, "Take her over. Don't let her stay in the new city area, and while you're at it, explain what she needs to do from now on."

"Understood."

Kaguya seemed completely indifferent to her new residence.

After a moment of thought, she asked, "May this one move freely within the city?"

"You may," Makoto agreed immediately.

There was no need to hide the empire's secrets from a woman like her.

Only then did Kaguya follow Samui out of the palace.

On the way, Samui began explaining to Kaguya the duties of the servants around His Majesty and how to properly attend to him.

Kaguya, however, seemed uninterested.

Her gaze remained fixed on the distant colossus and the Tower of the Solarity.

She seemed to sense something, her eyes lingering thoughtfully on the Reincarnation Shrine beneath the tower.

"Did you remember everything I just told you?" Samui suddenly asked.

Kaguya glanced at her indifferently and replied, "Mm."

Her tone immediately made Samui frown.

However, she suppressed her irritation.

No matter what, this woman belonged to His Majesty.

Sooner or later, she would have a chance to put her in her place.

Samui led Kaguya to a secluded courtyard.

Konoha had many such vacant, well-furnished residences, and Samui knew them all.

Every time His Majesty brought a woman back, she would arrange a place for them to stay.

"You'll be living here from now on," Samui said to Kaguya.

Unlike when she had handled Konan and Robin, she had no intention of treating this woman kindly.

Still, she explained responsibly, "The house is fully furnished, and all necessary living supplies are available. There's money in the drawer of the master bedroom—you can use it to buy anything you need. Most of the big commercial streets are in the new city area…"

She led Kaguya through the house, showing her each room and explaining the functions of various modern appliances and furniture.

Kaguya responded with a single word: "Mm."

Samui frowned and finally couldn't hold back. "Can't you at least say thank you?"

Kaguya replied coldly, "These things are meaningless to me."

After all, she was the progenitor of chakra.

From a certain perspective, all humans today were using the power she had once bestowed upon the world.

In her eyes, it was only natural for these mortals to serve her.

Aside from her so-called 'master,' who possessed greater strength than she did, no one else was even worth a glance.

Samui felt anger rising in her heart but chose not to say another word.

She turned and left immediately.

The moment Samui was gone, Kaguya's figure vanished from the spot.

When she reappeared, she was already inside the Institute of Mechanical Science.

The area was protected by barrier seals, preventing outsiders from seeing inside or forcefully entering.

But all of this was meaningless to her.

Kaguya floated high in the sky, her gaze fixed on the unfinished "Endless Zealot."

"Who's there?!"

Her sudden appearance immediately caught the attention of the researchers below, who shouted up at her in alarm.

"White eyes… Is she from the royal family?"

Tohnogawa muttered after getting a clear look at the figure in the sky.

He quickly signaled for the others not to act recklessly.

Kaguya paid no attention to the people below.

Her focus was entirely on the massive mech-god.

Its internal framework was made of a special metal that could efficiently conduct chakra.

Intricate chakra circulation seals were engraved upon it.

But the outer layer… was it flesh?

A flicker of surprise appeared in Kaguya's eyes.

The bio-organic armor was beyond her expectations.

Besides the Endless Zealot, not far away stood another colossal machine—the Cruising Destroyer, currently in a dormant state.

She teleported to it in an instant and quickly discovered a Tailed Beast Core sealed within a special living organism, serving as the energy source for the massive mech.

Kaguya fixed her gaze on the glowing core in the Cruising Destroyer's chest.

If she wanted to, she could extract all the chakra from within—but doing so would undoubtedly alert her so-called "master."

If she could reclaim all of her original power… would she be able to defeat him?

The thought crossed her mind, but she soon dismissed it.

She needed his strength to fend off the Otsutsuki Clan in the future.

Even if she defeated him now, what then?

It was better to submit to him for the time being.

If he indulged in worldly pleasures, then satisfying his desires was not out of the question—as long as she could survive the coming crisis.

Her mind gradually settled on this conclusion.

She already believed that she could definitely defeat him, but she was merely biding her time for her own greater goals.

After finishing her observations of the mechs, she teleported once more—this time to the top of the Tower of the Solarity, hovering beside the massive purple energy sphere, carefully probing the power within.

"Mutated power…" Kaguya murmured in astonishment after carefully examining the Tenseigan Weapon.

"Who's there?!"

From the control room below, several figures stepped out onto the tower's exterior, looking up at her with sharp vigilance.

The one leading them also had Byakugan.

"Byakugan…" Hyuga Shimizu was stunned as he took in the sight of this incomparably beautiful and noble-looking woman.

He was certain that no such person existed within the Hyuga clan.

His brows furrowed.

Even if she was a member of the clan, she had no right to trespass in this restricted area.

Without hesitation, he demanded, "Who are you?! This place is an imperial forbidden zone!"

Considering that she possessed the Byakugan, Shimizu refrained from immediately resorting to force.

Kaguya had no interest in acknowledging these mere mortals.

However, sensing their increasing wariness, she realized that ignoring them might lead to unnecessary trouble.

Would her "master" be angered if she acted against them?

These were just a few insignificant mortals…

Her gaze swept over the ANBU operatives and Shimizu with cold indifference.

Then, in an icy voice, she spoke:

"This one…"

But her words abruptly stopped.

At that moment, Kaguya suddenly realized—she did not know her master's name.

"This one… His Majesty the Emperor's… servant," she finally declared.

Shimizu was momentarily stunned.

His Majesty's servant?

He looked at Kaguya, who was floating midair, and after a brief moment of contemplation, he said, "Miss, this place is an imperial top-secret facility. Please leave at once."

Kaguya withdrew her gaze from him and turned her attention back to the massive purple energy sphere before her.

The exterior was a gigantic glass container, engraved with numerous sealing inscriptions—just like the ones on the mech.

But inside that container lay the true form of the Tenseigan Weapon.

If the light around it were to dissipate, its actual form would not be majestic at all—on the contrary, it would be utterly terrifying!

Kaguya suddenly found herself marveling at how far modern humanity had come in mastering chakra control.

Otherwise, how could they have created such colossal mechs?

Even when Samui had taken her to her new residence earlier, she had noticed that many of the household appliances were chakra-powered.

To Kaguya, chakra had always been nothing more than raw power.

With that thought, she vanished.

Shimizu's eyes widened in shock at her sudden disappearance.

His expression shifted before he finally said, "Inform His Majesty."

A stranger of unknown origins had appeared—it was only right that His Majesty be made aware.

Meanwhile, Kaguya arrived at the Reincarnation Shrine.

Like the previous locations, this place was also heavily guarded.

Moreover, it seemed to be connected to something beyond the ordinary.

This city held many secrets.

Modern humans were not quite the ignorant mortals of her past.

Kaguya could sense it—over the past thousand years, humanity had been evolving.

They were still weak, but they were no longer foolish or insignificant.

Was all of this her "master's" doing?

Suddenly, she thought of her children—Hagoromo and Hamura.

If only her two sons could be like her master—someone who could truly help her…

Eventually, Kaguya returned to the residence that her master had arranged for her.

The house was empty and cold.

She sat on the sofa in the living room, doing nothing.

Her gaze remained fixed on a single point ahead, unmoving.

It was unclear whether she was lost in thought—or simply doing nothing at all.

Front Hall of the Imperial Palace.

After returning to Makoto's side, Samui reported that Kaguya had been settled in.

Makoto always knew Kaguya's location at any given moment, so he was well aware of her visit to the Mechanical Science Research Institute, the Solarity Tower, and the Reincarnation Shrine.

Makoto glanced at Samui and remarked, "You came back quite early."

"I told her everything she needed to know," Samui replied.

Leaning back in his lounge chair, Makoto rested his cheek against his hand, observing her calm expression.

"What's wrong? You don't seem very happy."

He had noted that Samui returned unusually quickly.

Normally, when she arranged accommodations for Konan or Robin, she would take her time.

Compared to them, Kaguya's process was much faster.

Samui pursed her lips. "I'm not the kind of person who complains to His Majesty."

Makoto chuckled, pulling her into his embrace. "Now that you've said that, how can I not listen? Go on, tell me."

Nestled against Makoto's chest, Samui hesitated for a long time before finally speaking in a roundabout manner.

"That Kaguya lady… doesn't seem very good at dealing with people."

"Did she upset you?" Makoto asked, slipping his hand into her collar as he held her.

"…No. I serve His Majesty—I wouldn't get upset over something like that."

Makoto pondered briefly before saying, "She was once a goddess, worshipped by countless people."

Samui was stunned.

A goddess? If it came from His Majesty's mouth, it was no joke.

"Her former status was similar to mine now—she once ruled over the entire world."

Makoto summarized Kaguya's story, leaving out certain details as he relayed it to Samui.

After a long moment of contemplation, Samui murmured, "No wonder… In that case, I should be a little more tolerant of her in the future."

Makoto chuckled. "I told you this, but I never said you had to be lenient with her. What does it matter if she was a goddess? She's still just my servant now, isn't she?"

Samui's expression subtly shifted. "His Majesty is right…"

Thinking of Kaguya's cold yet noble face, a strange excitement stirred within Samui.

Makoto gave her an amused smirk. "You too, huh?"

"It's all because of His Majesty."

"Talk too much!"

............

Late Night.

Kaguya stepped out of her residence alone.

Unlike ordinary humans, she neither needed food nor sleep—her immense power was enough to sustain her body's functions.

She had spent the entire afternoon in her room, yet she hadn't been thinking about anything in particular.

Having lived through endless ages, she had long since ceased to find idleness dull.

However, she suddenly felt a desire to wander through this mortal world.

Her vision could encompass all of Konohagakure's capital, allowing her to see that her "master" was currently indulging in debauchery with six women.

Ignoring this, Kaguya made her way to New Konohagakure, where the streets were still bustling with people despite the late hour.

Shopping District.

Neon lights flickered along both sides of the street, colorful signs hung overhead, and the rich aroma of food filled the air.

The streets were packed with pedestrians, their chatter and laughter blending into a lively hum.

Kaguya eventually chose a small, less crowded shop and sat down.

"Welcome to Ichiraku Ramen! What would you like to order?"

A young girl behind the counter greeted her with a bright and energetic voice.

There were no other customers in the shop.

Kaguya glanced around before casually pointing at a sign displaying a menu item.

"Papa! She's from the royal family!" The little girl, Ayame, called out excitedly to a man inside.

Kaguya's Byakugan was an eye exclusive to the Hyuga clan, and in the empire, the Hyuga clan was now considered royalty.

"Huh? Really?"

Teuchi looked surprised as he turned his gaze toward Kaguya, who was seated quietly.

"You ordered the special soy sauce ramen, right? Please wait a moment—I'll have it ready soon!"

Straightening up, he immediately began preparing the ramen with full enthusiasm.

"Miss, why do you have two horns on your head?" Ayame asked curiously.

"Ayame! That's rude!" Teuchi scolded her at once.

Kaguya looked at the little girl in silence for a moment before surprisingly choosing to respond.

"They are… proof of my bloodline and power."

The lively noise of the surrounding streets faded into a distant murmur, blurring into the background.

Kaguya remained calm, her gaze fixed on the young girl's wide, curious eyes.

As she sat there, a thought surfaced in her mind—

So this… is the mortal world.
