Sera took a seat next to Alec, who looked at her with worry. She listened to their discussion, with her mind occupied with something else. Now that the Heartbane was stable, she should start planning how to restore her mana channel with Rowan's help. She could feel her father's occasional glances at her in between their talks as if he were assessing her.
Duke Lysander might have some suspicions about what caused her recent illness. Given the deep history of the Heartbane with the de Lys family, he must be thinking that the blade was starting to affect her negatively.
Sera wondered just how much information she could tell her father. She didn't want him to get involved, but with her survival deeply intertwined with his, it would be difficult to keep him entirely in the dark. He would surely question her about the Heartbane later. It would be hard for her to deter her father's questioning later.
