The red moon bathed the desert in an eerie light, casting long shadows through the broken walls of the ruin. Celina stood at the centre, her swords drawn and glinting under the moonlight. Around her, Clyde and Lira scrambled to their feet, blades out and ready, with their faces pale.
The blood-red creatures rushed at them like a tide of nightmares... dozens of them, maybe hundreds, crawling on all fours with glowing ember eyes and slick skin that shimmered like hot glass. Their mouths opened in silent snarls, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth.
Lira's voice cracked.
"W-What are those?!"
"Monsters. What exactly do they look like?" Celina replied flatly. "Stay close and fight."
"Fight those? Wait!" Lira wanted to speak.
The first creature leapt and Celina met it mid-air with a clean slash of her right sword. The thing split in half, dropping to the ground.
"It's not hard, Lira. What are you, scared?"
