It had to protect his forces from incoming attacks without blocking their shots.
If he left only small openings, they would have blind spots.
If the gaps were too wide, there would be no real cover at all.
He opened the creation interface and started building the design.
The roof would use reinforced Grimslate beams.
It would sit slightly raised above the wall so defenders could aim down at enemies without losing visibility.
The ballista towers would get overhead plating with long, narrow slots.
The operators would be able to fire through those slots while staying mostly hidden.
The scout perches along the walls would gain uneven, gap-filled barriers.
Those barriers would break incoming lines of fire while still letting the scouts see the whole battlefield.
"That should work," he thought.
Ben nodded, satisfied with the reinforcement.
He turned to call for Elvira.
He froze mid-step.
Cold ran down his spine.
