Chapter 70 - Portable Crossbow

Ben opened the creation interface.

His mind already worked through the mechanics as his fingers moved, sketching the first outlines of the crossbow's frame.

He used Grimslate as the base material since it was the one he had the most of.

He built the core structure first.

It was a reinforced grip that wrapped around a Krell's forearm and locked into place with mushroom fiber.

The trigger needed to be simple and reliable, and it had to allow rapid fire without using two hands.

The trigger mechanism was the hardest part.

Ben thought about how similar weapons worked in the games he had played.

Those had been spring-loaded and compact, built for quick reloads.

Here, he needed a system that let a Krell fire efficiently with one hand free.

No complex pulling.

No wasted motion.

He tapped his fingers against his chin.

A standard crossbow required a trigger pull, but his goal was for the Krell to shoot while their hand was still usable.
