Along the U.S. coastline, Shatterstar had activated its Ion Shield, escorting two massive Flying Dragon cruise liners. Blackie sped across the ocean surface, towing the two ships as they sliced through the waves. They could have gone faster, but the captain warned that pushing the speed any further might tear the ships apart. Even so, after only a few hours, they had already reached U.S. territorial waters.
"I wonder how the Boss is doing," Victor said, staring out over the restless sea. The deck around him was quiet, the men restless and bored.
Williams stood at the railing beside him, with Leo on the other side.
"You worry too much," Leo said. "The three people with the Boss are all monsters in their own right. He'll be fine."
"Yeah," Victor nodded, his eyes drifting toward the horizon. "Come to think of it, the three of us were the first to follow Ethan, weren't we?" His lips curved into a faint, bitter smile, the memory carrying both pride and pain.
