A wave of terror stormed Logi's body. For a minute, he went still, unable to take his eyes off the wound.
Then, like a kickstart to his nerves, he listened for a heartbeat, but it was faint and by the passing second it was decreasing.
"No, no, no," Logi panicked, searching for a potion the Witch had given him in case of an emergency, but he couldn't find it. A chilling realization grasped him—he lost it during that blast.
That was his only chance.
"Logi?" Cai said weakly with half-open eyes.
"I'm here," Logi sniffled, holding his hand tightly. "So don't say your last prayers, alright?"
"But I feel so cold, isn't that how it feels when Daudi's reaching for your soul?"
Logi's lips trembled, Cai's hand was losing its warmth and his face turned pale by the second.
"Maybe, but he won't take it if you fight it."
Cai gave him a half smile. "I'm not as strong as Lord Raven to escape death."
