Chapter 48 - Chapter 48 - Aldona's Mother and Chivo's Eldest Sister

Third person POV

Later that day, while Chivo and his older sister and niece were in Ruslav, a messenger was delivering a letter to Chivo and Agnieszka when he saw that no one was there, as indicated by a lock on the house's front door, which was the main entrance to the Sergias' small shop. Because of that, the messenger wondered where they went, and luckily, Arnoud was passing by when he saw the messenger. "Hey, what is it, sir?"

The messenger heard that and looked at him. "Oh! Hello there, I was delivering a letter to Mrs. Agnieszka and Mr. Chivo Sergia, but it seemed that they weren't home."

Knowing where the Sergias would typically go when they are not home, Arnoud said to him, "Ah, okay. I'll deliver it to you. I know where they are typically."

The messenger was stunned but was more than happy to agree, handing the letter, wrapped in a brown envelope, to Arnoud. "Here, thanks for your help."

"Yup!" Arnoud grabbed the letter and then left as the messenger waved him goodbye.

The messenger then left the scene as well.

A bit later, Arnoud arrived back in Nuevo Tacloban to deliver the letter. Meanwhile, Chivo, Agnieszka, and Aldona at Nuevo Tacloban's newly made Ruslan Plaza, which contains the obelisk and a square space of land around it. Basilio had commissioned its construction a few weeks ago, and it had been finished a few days ago, making it a nice memorial plaza for all to see. Even so, he added an inscription for Ruslan's suicidal sacrifice that says:

"Ruslan Makesa, the previous leader of the Forest Vamzoms, had committed suicide on this very spot and had paved the way for the new state of the Vamzoms now. Rest in peace and thank you for everything."

Chivo and his family really liked the place, and Chivo and Aldona were appreciative, both to the person who made the memorial possible and the person who commissioned its construction.

And then, Arnoud spotted them and went there. "Hey, guys, you have a letter from someone." He then handed the letter to them. Chivo and the others noticed that, and Agnieszka grabbed it and read it. It was from Valeria, her older sister, Chivo's eldest sister, and Aldona's mother, much to her joy and delight. So, she opened it, unfolded the paper, and she, Chivo, and Aldona read it. It said that Valeria, a warrior who was always away from home for work, will be coming home for Aldona's 8th birthday, and that she, the one who wrote it, was excited for it and was looking forward to it. After that, Chivo and his family were happy and excited.

"So, it was addressed to yours, right?" Arnoud asked.

Chivo then glanced at him. "Yes, thanks for delivering it to us. It was a messenger, right?"

"Yes, and he saw that you guys aren't at home, so I delivered it for him."

"Wow, thank you for that," Agnieszka responded.

 "You're welcome, Mrs. Agnes."

Arnoud then left off for his usual duties.
