Chapter 330 - Chapter 329: Duel

"Gachang—!" the White Walker let out a thunderous roar as a ring of deathly pale ice and snow swirled around him once more. He stood at the center of the storm, abandoning all caution toward the dragonflame arrows, and charged straight at Dany in a zigzagging sprint.

"Hiss hiss hiss—" The dragonflame arrows fell like rain on banana leaves, striking the icy storm. Some were extinguished on impact, some were deflected off course and slid past the White Walker, while many ignited into flames within the storm, leaving scorched, pitted marks on the White Walker's armor.

Suddenly, Dany's expression tightened. In her dragon-spirit state, she felt a crushing terror, like a millstone falling from the sky, slamming into her heart.

"Whoosh!" The White Walker, now just three steps away, vanished from sight. In the next instant, a pale blue shadow appeared behind Dany. Another instant, and perhaps a frost blade would pierce her back.

Unfortunately for him, Dany had six eyes. Aside from her own pair fixed on the front, Little White surveyed from above, and Big Black kept watch behind her. The battlefield was fully within her view.

"Boom—"

Almost the moment the White Walker vanished from her line of sight, the crimson fireball that had been shooting arrows suddenly expanded and exploded into a ring of fire, spreading outward from Dany in all directions.

"Bang!" The White Walker, who had leapt behind her with strange footwork, was like a ragdoll smashed by a train—he shattered midair into shards of ice, splashing blue blood and milky-white flesh, landing seven or eight meters away.

Some of the liquid even splattered onto the faces of Morona and other watching wildlings, hissing as it quickly frosted their skin, making them cry out in pain.

The White Walker wasn't destroyed by the force of the explosion.

In truth, given the toughness of a White Walker's body, even if hit head-on by a locomotive, he wouldn't shatter like ice. Their bodies may look like they're made of ice, but they're truly flesh and blood—just like how a human hit by a train wouldn't be torn apart midair.

What truly dealt the killing blow was dragonflame. The ring of fire, exploding at close range, struck the White Walker like a direct blast from a dragon.

The dragonflame destabilized the structural integrity of his body.

The shattered corpse melted quickly upon hitting the ground, like ice cream on a summer day—soft and collapsing—turning into a puddle of pale blue liquid emitting a cold mist.

At the same time, within Dany's spiritual space, a misty white rain of icy spiritual essence began to fall. Just as she was stunned by this strange occurrence, the rain seamlessly merged into the foundations of her ring-based meditation.

"Buzz—" The damaged green seer meditation rune began to spread like a spiderweb. The rune manifested from nothing and began to evolve on its own.

Dany was dumbfounded: The icy spiritual rain of a White Walker can actually complete the Green Seer meditation technique?!

The entire battlefield fell silent. The wildlings stared in stunned awe at the Dragon Queen standing (dazed) in place, visibly shaken.

"Caw—" Big Black cried out, stretching its neck and releasing a long stream of dragonflame.

It was then that Dany snapped out of it, temporarily putting aside the strange development in her soul space. Still in her dragon-spirit state, she channeled a massive output of magic, combining it with her willpower to shape the dragonflame into a fireball form.

When she received a fresh fireball, her spirit surged. Longsword in hand, she pointed it one by one at the five White Walkers shrouded in the freezing mist, her voice booming across the battlefield:"Who else?!"

"Wah!" The wildlings snapped out of their daze and shouted in wild excitement,"Dragon Queen of blazing magic flames! Dragon Queen who shakes the world! Dragon Queen, slayer of White Walkers!"

"Long live Queen Daenerys! Glory! Glory!"The Night's Watch on the Wall erupted in unified climax, cheering madly.

"Grrk, grrk." Stannis clenched his teeth hard again.

"What kind of White Walker is that? Looked so intimidating, but one hit from the fire ring and it shattered?" Gaudy Farlen muttered in disappointment.

"Why don't you go down and try?" Bowen Marsh couldn't help but snap, "The White Walker was so fast we couldn't even see its shadow. It took dozens of fire arrows and didn't die. And you still think it wasn't strong?"

"Who else?!" Dany roared again.

Finally, another White Walker stepped forward and called out to Dany in a voice like an icy lake shattering.

Milky white skin. Adaptive, color-shifting armor that shimmered like the stars. Eyes glowing like blue starlight. Pale hair floating like flames above his head.

If not for the wrinkled lines beneath his eyes, Dany would've thought he was the sibling of the previous White Walker.

"Gachang—!"The White Walker turned to the four remaining comrades and let out a shout. The ones seated on horseback hesitated visibly.

Then, the challenger pointed at Big Black—who was surrounded by shield-bearing wildlings—then tapped his own chest and spoke in a voice like ice scraping glass.

"Careful, he's asking them to assist him!" Morona's face changed as she urgently warned Dany.

"What? Ganging up on me?" Dany was startled. She couldn't keep up the act any longer and quickly turned around, ducking her head and jogging back behind the wildling shield wall.

"No, no ambush,"The White Walker suddenly spoke in the common tongue of Westeros.

Well, he tried.

His tone was labored and coarse, as if his vocal cords weren't meant to produce such sounds.

"Duel. Duel. Fair… duel," he said slowly and clearly, the muscles in his neck straining with every word.

At that moment, the two White Walkers on horseback dismounted. Together with the other two, they surrounded the challenger.

Under the stunned gazes of Dany and the others, each of the four White Walkers extended one hand, pressing their palms against the challenger's chest and back.

Suddenly, a whirling blizzard rose from the ground. Snow and frost danced wildly, enveloping the five White Walkers. Faint bluish runes formed spiderweb patterns, glowing softly on the challenger's icy crystal armor.

The runes spread upward—across his chest, shoulders, neck, and head—and downward, across his abdomen, thighs, calves, and ankles.

Crack crack!

With the naked eye, one could see a helmet forming on the challenger's head, thin as a cicada's wing. His once-invisible armor now absorbed the icy storm, becoming a dazzling, crystalline layer—apparently made from the same material as the sword that blocked dragonflame.

The power of four White Walkers had forged a suit of enchanted glacial armor for the challenger. This ice armor lost its invisibility, and the White Walker's figure now stood clear and bold across from Dany.

The Dragonflame fireball reflected a crimson glow off the White Walker, as if a mirror had been placed in front of it, dazzling the surrounding wildlings to the point of nearly blinding them.

"Duel!" the Gundam-like White Walker pointed its sword at the Dragon Queen.

This White Walker was covered from head to toe in a layer of translucent black ice. Not only was it a size larger, but the crystalline armor also had a distinct geometric beauty, resembling a sharply angular suit of steel armor.

To be fair, it was even more stunning than Tony's Mark armor—glittering, gleaming, faintly glowing with a soft blue hue. When external light struck it, it refracted into a rainbow-like halo.

It was like wearing a robe woven from rainbow mist.

"The White Walker is too cunning—it's cheated and crafted armor!" Morona swallowed hard and looked at Dany. "What do we do now? Var and Thoron have already led their men back near the pyre. The Night's Watch rangers have also circled around and blocked the northeast side. Should we strike now?"

Dany hesitated. A White Walker piloting a Gundam sounded terrifying. But this was still just a White Walker—several tiers below the Night King. If Dragonflame couldn't kill even this one, it would certainly be ineffective against the Night King.

Undoubtedly, the White Walker saw the dragon as a hypothetical enemy and intended to test the strength and limits of Dragonflame through a duel with her.

Likewise, Dany also wanted to probe the White Walker's capabilities—perhaps even find their weakness.

"I'll give it a try. If I can't even defeat a mere White Walker, how can I hope to end the Long Night?!" Dany's gaze was firm, her spirit soaring.

The wildlings around her, fired up by her words, instantly roared in excitement, "Long live the Dragon Queen! All hail the Dragon Queen!"

Dany waved them down and spoke in a low, solemn voice, enunciating each word: "Prepare for the worst. If anything goes wrong, you must charge in and save me immediately."

"You fiend, watch as I bring you down!" Dany shouted, holding a fireball in her left hand and a flaming sword in her right, standing tall and imposing.

"Gaa gaa gaa," the White Walker sneered, then turned into a rainbow streak and charged at her.

Though the added ice armor slowed it slightly, its movements remained agile, slipping about like a serpent.

"Courting death!" Dany growled, focusing intently as the fireball in her hand launched a barrage of Dragonflame arrows like a fiery rain.

"Zzz zzz zzz zzz—" In just one or two seconds, over a hundred fiery arrows struck the reflective, rainbow-hued black ice armor. The White Walker didn't even raise its sword to block.

But the result was horrifying—not a single dent appeared on the armor, not even a drop of ice melted; only a scorched mark remained.

"Seven Hells! The White Walker's ice armor is made of the same material as its ice sword—completely immune to Dragonflame!" cried Archmaester Aemon in shock.

"Nothing is truly immune to Dragonflame. Look, the armor is fading in color," Melisandre's red eyes were as deep as a bottomless pool. Despite lacking a spyglass, she could see more clearly than anyone.

"Boom—" A ring of fire exploded around the Dragon Queen, just like before.

Like the earlier White Walker, the Gundam version used a strange footwork to dash in front of Dany, then suddenly slid to her left side.

But this time, the result was very different. The Gundam White Walker didn't slash wildly—it gripped its sword with both hands and sliced through the Dragonflame before it like cutting through butter.

Of course, Dragonflame was formless and immaterial. Even if it was cut through, that didn't mean it could be entirely avoided.

"Boom—"

The bright red Dragonflame burst across the White Walker's body, forcing it to retreat. "Zzz zzz—" Its feet dragged two shallow grooves in the ground.

For the first time, the White Walker made a sound while moving—leaving visible footprints.

"Crack crack!" The once-glimmering crystal armor was now charred and riddled with milky white cracks, spiderwebbing out from the shoulder plates.

"Boom!" Like a giant mirror being shattered by a brute's kick, the crystalline black ice armor exploded, scattering shards of sparkling ice everywhere.

But the unarmored White Walker didn't stop for a moment. The instant it steadied itself, it lunged straight at Dany like a whirlwind—no zigzagging, no evasion, no hesitation, no mercy.

For the first time, the White Walker reached the Dragon Queen's side and slashed. Dany raised her sword to block. Blades clashed—"Tang—"

The ice sword, thin as a cicada's wing, struck the sky-forged steel. But instead of the sharp clang of metal, it produced a high-pitched wail, barely within the range of human hearing—like a dying beast's final scream.

"Aaahhh—" The nearby wildlings grimaced and shook their heads, trying to rid themselves of the snake-like screech drilling into their ears.

But that was only the beginning. The Dragon Queen and the White Walker fought at full speed, exchanging blows in rapid succession. Blades flashed like lightning, and that eerie "tang tang tang" sound rang out nonstop.

The two warriors struck and countered with astonishing speed, moving so quickly they left behind afterimages. The wildlings watching could barely follow the action, their eyes spinning.

With the bizarre, jarring clash of weapons never stopping, the wildlings felt dizzy, unsteady, and nauseous.

"Ugh—" Blind Dos staggered and vomited over his shield.

Dos was a war chief of a small tribe. "Blind" was just a nickname—his eyesight was poor, but he wasn't truly blind.

"Damn it... I can't even bear the sound of their battle?" he muttered in horror, cursing in frustration.

(Note): About the White Walkers' armor—In Game of Thrones, aside from the Night King wearing black plate armor, the other White Walkers seemed bare-chested, which felt rather shabby. In reality, the White Walkers did have armor—fully covered and aesthetically beautiful, like works of art. Their armor even had light camouflage properties—it could alter appearance based on the surroundings, perfectly mimicking any hue.Often, a White Walker could be standing right beside you, and you'd never see them—but you'd feel their presence, as they were always accompanied by a biting cold, sometimes even a freezing mist.As for whether the White Walker armor here is a bit OP—well, if it were so easy to break, why would Azor Ahai need to kill his wife and forge Lightbringer to end the Long Night 8,000 years ago?Let's just say—the White Walkers in Game of Thrones were too weak.)
