"Taaaar~!"
With a ferocious roar, Tyranitar reawakened the fury of the sandstorm. Though it had begun to subside, the desert winds howled to life once more—
Sand Stream, activated!
After his Pokémon's Ability triggered, Volo silently rolled up his sleeve, revealing a Mega Bracelet he had obtained in the Hoenn region. Pressing a finger to the Key Stone, he raised his arm high and declared:
"Tyranitar, Mega Evolve!"
In an instant, the Key Stone radiated a mystical light, as multicolored energy beams linked to Tyranitar.
"Taaar~!"
From within, the Tyranitarite embedded in Tyranitar's body glowed in response. As the two lights connected, the brilliant aura of evolution engulfed the Pokémon.
White light flared—and then faded.
Mega Tyranitar, emerged!
After Mega Evolution, six jagged spikes sprouted from Tyranitar's back, and the spike on its head expanded into a towering horn. Its knees jutted outward with fresh lumps, and its tail extended, the four spines at its tip branching outward. The four vents on its chest expanded—two of which now pulsed with glowing red cores, radiating a terrifying aura.
At this moment, Tyranitar had truly become a Desert Tyrant incarnate.
"Dragon Dance!"
As soon as the evolution was successful, Volo issued his command.
"Taaar~!"
Mega Tyranitar began a mystical dance on the spot, powering up its Attack and Speed.
"Ursah~!"
After seeing the mega evolution of Tyranitar, Ursaluna's eyes changed. The originally naive and cute eyes became terrifying and ferocious.
It still remembered its earlier loss to Mega Garchomp. If that opponent was too tough to beat... then it would start by crushing you.
With that burning resolve, flames of aura ignited around Ursaluna's massive frame.
Guts, activated!
"Earthquake!"
"Taaar~!"
With its Ability fully triggered, Ursaluna slammed its forelegs down, unleashing a shattering Earthquake. The battlefield quaked violently, and in the blink of an eye, the tremor struck Mega Tyranitar mid-dance, shattering its rhythm and forcing a pained howl from its throat.
"Body Slam!"
Wincing from the aftershock, Mega Tyranitar nevertheless leapt with monstrous strength, launching itself straight at Ursaluna in a terrifying midair collision.
Body Slam: The higher the user's Defense, the stronger the blow!
And now, Mega Tyranitar's Attack and Defense were both through the roof.
But Ursaluna didn't flinch. Its crimson eyes glowed with a savage glint, not a trace of fear in sight.
Even without Paul issuing the command, Ursaluna responded with brutal instinct—triggering Facade, doubling its power due to its status condition, and crashing headlong into the airborne Tyranitar.
A deafening boom erupted as the two massive Pokémon collided midair.
Mega Tyranitar's raw strength was fearsome—but even it couldn't match the raging force of Guts-fueled Ursaluna. After a moment of resistance, Tyranitar was violently launched across the battlefield.
"Hammer Arm!"
Before Mega Tyranitar could recover, Ursaluna charged once more. With both massive arms raised, it brought them down like twin wrecking balls on Mega Tyranitar's body.
"Boom!"
With a thunderous crash, the earth beneath Mega Tyranitar shattered as it was smashed into a crater. A flash of white light rippled through its body—its Mega form dispersed. It had reverted.
"Ursah~"
The bloodlust in Ursaluna's eyes faded slightly. It raised one paw, returning to its battle stance.
"Tyranitar is unable to battle. Ursaluna wins!"
The referee raised a flag.
"Return, Tyranitar. You did well."
Volo recalled his fallen Pokemon, frowning at the flames still burning on Ursaluna's scorched body.
He'd known Ursaluna was strong—but this strong?
Even his Mega Evolved Tyranitar had been crushed.
Monstrous.
Now came the hardest choice.
Which Pokémon to send in last?
His hand hovered between two Poké Balls—Rhyperior and Flygon.
Rhyperior was his first partner, the powerhouse of his team. But Flygon had the type advantage over Ursaluna.
Still... if he chose Flygon, Paul would likely switch Ursaluna for Mega Garchomp.
And there was no need to debate who was stronger—Mega Garchomp outclassed Flygon easily.
"Huff… Rhyperior, I'm counting on you!"
Drawing in a deep breath, Volo threw the Poké Ball.
"RAAHHH!"
Like a living war machine, Rhyperior crashed onto the battlefield.
"Rock Polish!"
Its body began to shine as it used mysterious energy to smooth its rocky armor, reducing wind resistance to sharply boost its Speed.
But Paul wasn't about to give him the chance.
"Taunt!"
Before Rhyperior could finish its move, Ursaluna let out a mocking roar and motioned it forward with one claw.
Taunted. Rhyperior suddenly lost all interest in buffing itself. Rage boiled over instead, and it glared murderously at its opponent.
"Tch…" Volo gritted his teeth.
"Fine then—Megahorn!"
If you can't buff, then just go all in!
Fury blazing, Rhyperior charged forward with its full might. Its drill horn spun at high speed, tearing through the air as it unleashed a devastating Megahorn.
A crushing move.
Unstoppable.
"Dig!"
But Ursaluna, unfazed, immediately vanished into the earth with Dig—a move it had once learned while training alongside Garchomp.
With its target gone, Rhyperior plowed helplessly into the dirt, shattering a large chunk of the arena. Its charge ended in a stunned state—vulnerable from the recoil of the super-powered attack.
That was when Ursaluna burst out from below, striking upward and sending Rhyperior flying.
"Hammer Arm!"
Before Rhyperior could even fall, Ursaluna leapt up—slamming both arms down in a devastating blow.
Rhyperior, barely regaining mobility, crossed its arms to defend.
BOOM!
Another massive impact!
Rhyperior slammed into the ground, swallowed by a cloud of dust.
"Earthquake!"
Paul gave no pause.
As soon as Ursaluna landed, it pounded the ground once more—Earthquake radiated outwards, rattling the whole arena and hammering into the smoke-shrouded Rhyperior.
And Ursaluna wasn't done. It kept the Earthquake going, the ground trembling violently, until the dust cleared—revealing Rhyperior collapsed, unmoving.
Though its Solid Rock Ability helped reduce impressive damage, it wasn't enough. The barrage had overwhelmed it.
"Rhyperior is unable to battle. Ursaluna wins!"
"Since all of Volo's Pokémon are unable to battle, the winner is Paul!"
"Well done. Return."
Paul retrieved Ursaluna, giving a small respectful nod to the referee before walking off the field.
