Chapter 399 - Chapter 399 My Birth

(Some Clarification: The Honkai God is the Cocoon of Finality, not Prometheus No. 17. The Will of the Honkai is the Will of the Honkai, and the Honkai God is the Honkai God; the two are different.

Prometheus assimilated with the Honkai, becoming a part of it. It was Prometheus's fusion that caused the Honkai to develop self-awareness, giving rise to countless conceptual entities. These are what the game refers to as the "Will of the Honkai." However, No. 17 died during the fusion, leaving behind only a switch for Kevin to steal power. After Kevin took the power, the last remaining concept of No. 17 was annihilated and disappeared completely.

The conversation between Sirin and the Honkai God on the moon was a conversation between Sirin and the Cocoon of Finality. The Cocoon said, "A portion of my power was stolen by the Previous Era." This refers to what No. 17, Mobius, and the others did. But the Cocoon didn't care about the Previous Era's actions; it casually took back the stolen power and gave it to Sirin.)

Back when he was still a prodigal son who had fled his family, Siegfried met Cecilia, whose flower language, the Cecilia flower, means "the prodigal's true love."

The meeting between Siegfried Kaslana and Cecilia Schariac began as an accident, but from that accident, the sparks of love ignited.

But Siegfried wasn't even a reserve Valkyrie yet, so how could he possibly be with Cecilia, Schicksal's most renowned and powerful Valkyrie?

Siegfried wanted to find Cecilia, but unfortunately, not only was he not a Valkyrie, but he had also run away from his family and had yet to be formally accepted back…

After parting with Siegfried, Cecilia also often found herself thinking about that clumsy boy. Otto, who was always watching Cecilia, noticed her unusual behavior and learned about her and Siegfried.

The strongest Honkai energy adaptability (Kaslana) and the strongest Honkai energy control (Schariac)—what kind of flower would bloom from such a union? With the idea of creating the ultimate Valkyrie, Otto specifically sought out the eager but powerless Siegfried.

Under Otto's personal guidance and training, combined with Siegfried's natural talent, Siegfried went from nothing to becoming a key member of Schicksal's A-rank Valkyries in just one year, setting a record for the fastest promotion in Valkyrie history.

Then, Otto directly took Siegfried back to the Kaslana family, allowing them to see that the heir they had once endlessly lamented had finally grown up.

Afterward, Otto, along with Siegfried and the Kaslana family, went directly to the Schariac family to propose marriage to Cecilia.

The conservative Schariac family was unwilling to agree to the marriage, as Siegfried's frivolous demeanor and his history of running away from his family had left a bad impression.

Unfortunately for them, Cecilia had her own two feet and was also the strongest fighter in the Schariac family…

Siegfried fought and subdued the Kaslana family, taking the Judgment of Shamash. Cecilia overpowered everyone, defeating all the dissenting members of her own family…

And so, in a situation where only the parties involved were truly happy and everyone else was forced to agree, the two most powerful families in the world were successfully united by marriage.

Not long after, a warrior born to fight the Honkai was born—Kiana Kaslana.

And from the moment Otto helped deliver Cecilia's baby, his plan for an army of the strongest Valkyries had already begun.

The first letter of Kiana's name became the name of the project: the K-series clone project…

Periodically, Otto would draw some of Kiana's blood samples for cloning experiments.

But the results disappointed Otto time and time again, because the resulting experimental subjects, unlike other series, lacked their own consciousness and souls.

The physical constitution of the Kiana clones was too powerful, almost like that of humanoid Honkai Beasts. The overly strong bodies, born from the start, annihilated the weak, newborn souls, resulting in every clone being a "stillbirth."

Otto tried fusing genes from Cecilia and Kiana, Siegfried and Kiana, Kallen and Kiana, and even himself and Kiana, but the result was always the same: no soul could be born.

Thus, Otto came up with the idea of transferring other souls into the clone bodies, but Fenghuang Down only transferred consciousness…

It could neither remain in another body for long nor grow with the physical body, and it even caused irreparable damage to both the body and the consciousness.

The experiment made no progress until the start of the Second Honkai War. The Herrscher of Reason, Welt Yang, and his core's immortality—the fact that he couldn't be killed—gave Otto a glimmer of hope.

A Herrscher's soul resides in its Herrscher Core. As long as the consciousness is transferred to the core before death, the Herrscher will not die, and the soul will not dissipate.

After the Second Honkai War ended, Otto went to great lengths to retrieve Sirin's body and the shattered Herrscher of the Void core from the Siberian snowfields.

What would happen if a Herrscher was fused with the strongest Valkyrie?

To understand what God's hint truly was, Otto attempted to master the power of the Herrschers.

He fused Kiana's genes with Sirin's to create the subsequent K-series.

Otto integrated the damaged Herrscher core into the 423rd experimental subject of the K-series—K-423. K-423 showed excellent compatibility with the Second Herrscher's core. Without Otto even needing to do much, K-423 and the core reacted upon its removal and fused on their own.

But the experiment was still a failure… Aside from having a Herrscher Core, K-423 still showed no signs of mental activity…

Otto gradually lost patience with this, unsure if the experiment was fundamentally impossible or if Sirin was simply unwilling to wake up…

In 2006, Otto conducted one final test on K-423 but received no feedback. Disheartened, Otto was about to destroy all the clones when the instruments on K-423's incubation chamber began to show a response…

Otto was ecstatic but quickly calmed himself down. The experiment was a success. The biggest hurdle was cleared. The next step was…

Herrschers could be influenced by human emotions. Whether in the Previous Era or the current one, Herrschers were always influenced by human consciousness; the only difference was the degree of influence.

The Herrscher of Death chose to embrace the past and took her own life before the Fire Moths. The Herrscher of Flamescion, however, chose to bid farewell to the past and burn everything to the ground.

Otto was a man who lacked love, a hypocrite who had pretended to be a gentleman his entire life. He didn't know if he could handle the responsibility of raising a child. If he ended up spoiling K-423 like he did Theresa, humanity would be completely doomed…

So, Otto discreetly leaked the information to Anti-Entropy, who then passed the message to Siegfried.

Otto's general plan was for Siegfried to gain another daughter, and in the future, the two sisters would inherit Schicksal and work together to fight and defeat the Honkai. He himself would retire, leaving his deeds and misdeeds to be judged by posterity.

What Otto hadn't expected was that the useless Anti-Entropy would mess up even something like this…

Because he hadn't anticipated Anti-Entropy's incompetence and failure to keep their word, the script Otto had carefully crafted was broken. What should have been a story with a happy ending for everyone turned into the beginning of a tragedy.

Anti-Entropy broke their promise, forcing Siegfried to steal a Schicksal aircraft to escape…

But Otto had tampered with all of Schicksal's aircraft that day to prevent any Schicksal Valkyries from actually catching up to Siegfried…

And the result was…

Boom—

The aircraft exploded. Kiana was critically injured, her fate unknown. K-423's chance at a beautiful life turned into a painful beginning…

Afterward, Otto, who had been observing K-423, learned of her loveless and distorted upbringing over the next three years and nearly went to chop Siegfried to pieces with a knife.

Fortunately, in the fourth year, Siegfried finally accepted K-423 and gave her the name Kiana Kaslana. Only then did Otto rest easy and stop meddling in their father-daughter life.
