Xia Yuqing's blood ran cold.
"I don't know what you're talking about," she said instantly, her voice firm, though her fingers trembled slightly at her sides.
Lu Jinchen let out a humorless laugh. "Really? That's your answer?" he mocked, his eyes narrowing. "Do you honestly think you can still hide things from me, Xia Yuqing?"
Her gaze flickered, but she said nothing. Silence was her only defense. When she turned to leave, his hand shot out and caught her wrist. In one swift movement, he spun her around and trapped her against the wall.
His grip was strong, his presence overwhelming. "Look at me," he ordered, tilting her chin up between his fingers. "Say it again. Lie to my face."
Xia Yuqing stared back at him, her pulse racing. Her heart screamed to tell him the truth, but her mind reminded her of the danger. She took a deep breath and forced a cold smile.
