Half an hour later, Xia Yuqing returned to the operation theater.
Her steps slowed when she saw Lu Jinchen still standing there, frozen in place like a statue. His tall figure looked so lonely under the dim hospital lights, his eyes fixed on the closed doors that hid his father's life inside.
Her heart ached. Quietly, she walked up to him and gently placed her hand on his shoulder. "I've asked for a special room so that Mother can take a rest," she said softly.
But he didn't move. He didn't even blink.
"Your father… he will be fine," she whispered, hoping to ease the heaviness in his heart.
Still, there was no response.
She tilted her head and looked at him carefully. "Jinchen?" she called, her voice low but firm.
At that, Lu Jinchen finally turned. Without a word, he pulled her into his arms, holding her so tightly as though she was the only thing keeping him from collapsing.
