The car rolled to a stop in front of the Lu Mansion, but Xia Yuqing didn't move an inch. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, and her gaze stayed fixed out the window. It was obvious from her stiff posture—she had no intention of getting out.
Lu Jinchen glanced at her, then turned to the driver. "Leave."
The driver nodded and silently stepped out, shutting the door behind him. As the car door closed, silence filled the air between them. Now that they were alone, Lu Jinchen reached over and gently grabbed her hand. "Let's go inside."
"I'm not going," she said without even looking at him.
His brows drew together slightly. "Why? Is it really that hard to accept me?"
She finally turned her head, meeting his eyes with a hardened expression. "Yes. It is. You broke our contract."
Lu Jinchen's chest tightened at her words, but he forced a calm expression, pretending as if he didn't understand what she meant. "What contract?"
