The knock came once. I didn't look up from the file in front of me, but I already knew something was wrong.
James never knocked like that unless he had to. "Enter," I said. The door opened, and both James and Antonio stepped inside.
That alone was enough.
James moved first, his expression carved from stone, jaw tight, eyes sharp. Antonio followed, broader, heavier, his presence filling the space without a sound.
Neither of them spoke. They didn't need to. I leaned back slowly in my chair, fingers steepling in front of me.
The room felt smaller all of a sudden. Tighter. Like it was holding its breath. "What happened."
James walked forward and placed something on my desk.
Katya's phone. It made no sound when it touched the polished wood, but my gaze locked onto it immediately. I hadn't expected it back this soon.
