[3rd POV]
After several hours of passionate love making with Serafall, who had proven over the night that she was a freak in bed, the rest of the night had passed by simply. Besides fucking the hell out of Serafall, Morgan had ended up staying up later into the night studying her new runes. As well as warping said runes into something more her style.
She had found that several of the runes that she had learned from the book were actually quite easy to mutate and manipulate, warping it into something entirely new and unique. She had learned quite fast that the runes of Asgard were not rigid whatsoever, and were actually very flexible in their usage and ability.
Thanks to learning this fact, Morgan had begun to look into combining the various runes into a runic system, a stronger one than what she was currently using. Combining it with her current knowledge of runes, she should be able to make a warding system that is several times more proficient and powerful than what she had made beforehand.
But she had also found that while the runes were flexible and easy to use in various ways, some of the runes were not exactly easy to combine with others. And some of them were laughably easy to combine with the others.
And as she had assumed, the ones that were hard to combine with others were far and away the strongest of the runes. The ones that she needed to use more than any of the others, and easily the most important of them all.
Which meant she needed to learn how to combine them in a safe manner that would not weaken them, or limit what they should be able to do. That was easier said than done, as she imagined that Odin would have done it if it was that simple.
Meaning it would take her a lot of time in order to actually accomplish the task that she had set out to do. At least, when it came to the runes that she actually cared about and wanted to work with.
Thankfully she had Rossweisse as a helper, alongside Scathach. Scathach was incredibly skilled in all runes, especially ancient runes from her universe. She couldn't really use them to their full might in the DxD universe due to the difference in structure, but the basis of both was similar.
This meant that she was able to rapidly learn the new runes at a pace that was even faster than what Morgan had learned hers. All because she had learned and mastered runes that were far far far more complex than the ones that she had learned back in her world.
And thanks to this, Morgan was able to work with her, and Rossweisse, who already had a lot of knowledge in the art of runes. Although, her knowledge in runes was limited to the public runic information. While what Morgan had was the rare runes that only royalty could learn.
Making it an incredible opportunity to learn ancient runes of Asgard, and master her craft in even greater ways.
"You know Scathach, is it possible to learn the runes that you know? Because if they are anything like what I know, I do believe that they can be incredibly useful in the future" Morgan asked, as she sat at a table with Rossweisse and Scathach.
This was where they had been studying and experimenting over the past few days. And the surroundings had sketchings of all sorts of runes and combinations that they found could potentially work in the future.
"You mean the Primordial Runes? I...should be able to teach you. But I have tested them thoroughly, master. And they are far inferior to what I remember them being, so much so that the runes of this place are likely superior to them" Scathach responded, wondering why her master was asking about them now of all times.
Scathach has been in the peerage for quite some time now, afterall.
"I know that. But I also think that by learning them, I can find a way to combine them with what this world has to offer, and maybe even make something better. As if I combine them, I might b e able to bring out more of the power. Either way, it'll be a good thing to learn just in case" Morgan responded with a shrug, not minding if they were weak.
As even if they were weak for whatever reason, she could still find a use for them. And if she ever found out the connection between DxD and Fate, she would have further use for the runes, especially if she ever found a way to travel to that place.
She hoped she could at least learn more about the connection, even if she never finds out a way to get there.
"As you wish. But I must warn you that learning primordial runes is not as simple as the normal, and may take far longer" Scathach said, staring at her master. She was a little hesitant at first, but seeing how certain Morgan was about this, she decided not to go against her wishes, and instead agreed with her.
"I'm sure it will be fine, I'm a fast learner" Morgan responded with a confident smile on her face.
"So...what exactly are the Primordial Runes? I've never heard of such a thing" Rossweisse asked in befuddlement. She's heard of several runes, but not an entirely new type of rune like that one.
"It's...complicated. Think of it as the first runes, the ones in which all others are based off of, therefore making them the most powerful. These runes, which have also been called "Primeval Runes" are capable of directly manipulating reality. The runes are capable of a lot of things, like manipulating causality. They're also quite...foreign to this world, so it's only natural you've never heard of them" Morgan answered simply, remembering the knowledge she had obtained about them in her past life.
They were complicated, but not that complicated. And they had a lot of power, and should be far above any rune she knew in this world. Because what could be better than a rune that directly manipulates reality, and can literally manipulate causality?
Not many.
"That...is ridiculous! What sort of rune could manipulate causality?! And what sort of runes could manipulate reality itself! That's insane!" Rossweisse said in awe, having never heard of that sort of thing. Abilities that could directly manipulate reality were...not really a thing in this world, there were a few powers that were somewhat similar, but nothing that could outright do that.
And reality manipulation? That was one of the most powerful abilities in all of fiction. In the wrong hands that sort of ability could lead to the deaths of thousands of innocents, if not more.
Hell, Rossweisse doubted that even the Dragon Gods could do something like that, showing just how insanely overpowered that ability really was.
"Which is why it's weaker here. Had it been so powerful, it would break the balance of the universe. And even besides that, it is intricately tied to the concepts of where it originates from, which is why it is weaker here" Morgan explained, as the woman slowly nodded.
She was still confused about what she meant by "Where it originated from" and all of that, but she suspected it was something that would be explained to her in the coming weeks. At least, she certainly hoped so. Being out of the loop wasn't very fun to her.
With that conversation about the Primordial runes finished, the trio continued to research the runes, while also beginning to learn the primordial runes of Scathach's universe.
And like that, weeks had passed. As they continued to experiment with the runes of the Asgard of this universe, while also learning and experimenting with the primordial runes of the Fate universe.
Like Scathach had said, the primordial runes were far weaker than what Morgan had expected, but, they were not weak enough for her to be angry. And thanks to this, she found that there was a number of combinations that she would be able to use them for. Which would make the barrier for Trihexa even stronger than what she had planned beforehand.
But finally, after weeks upon weeks of having her locked up within her basement, waiting for her recovery...Lilith had finally awoken up. And...
She had questions.
