Barry can't believe he lost a Meta-human, whom he already had on his knees, completely defeated.
'Looks like I am getting a little too carried away with my powers. I should start being more vigilant,' Barry thinks before running away.
After a few minutes, Barry returns to S.T.A.R. Labs to find Cisco along with Caitlin and Dr. Wells.
"You're back," Cisco says, but then looks around in confusion as he only sees Barry. Nowhere is the Meta-human, he said, he caught.
"Where's the Meta Human?" Cisco asks.
"He escaped..." Barry says, sighing with defeat.
"Haha, nice joke. You said you defeated him," Cisco says.
"I did, but when I turned my back to talk to you, the guy escaped by jumping into a manhole. Before I knew it, he was gone," Barry says.
"You're lying. How can someone get away from you?" Cisco asks.
"Well, it's indeed embarrassing, but I got distracted while talking to you," Barry says.
"Did you survey the surroundings? Maybe he took off somewhere else," Caitlin suggests.
"No, I ran around the whole block multiple times. Checked every corner. He was nowhere to be found. I am sure he went down the manhole in the sewers."
"What type of Meta Human was it?" Dr. Wells asks.
"This one could turn his body into some kind of metallic substance. It was hard to hit him unless I was hitting him beyond supersonic speed. Every single punch hurt like hell," Barry says.
Luckily, his super healing immediately kicked in every time he punched the Man of Steel, saving him from having a broken hand.
Barry might be immortal, but his body can still be destroyed. It is his soul that has become the other half of the speed force. His body is just a vessel for him to use.
It will take some time before his body can become invulnerable.
Cisco then pulls out a map of all the manholes and sewer entrances of the city on the screen, and Barry points out where the Meta human escaped into.
For some reason, Dr. Wells seems pretty interested in this, but no one notices it. Something is going on inside that head of his.
"Don't worry, we will get him next time," Caitlin says, trying to cheer up the team after losing a defeated Meta Human. Her words are especially for Barry, as it is his fault that the Man of Steel escaped.
"Caitlin is right. This is not the first time a Meta Human has gotten away. We will get him the next time he resurfaces," Dr. Wells adds.
Barry looks at the two and nods his head.
He is not going to make a big deal out of this because he is confident in taking down this man of steel again if he resurfaces, and the next time he does, Barry is not going to be as overconfident as before.
"Alright, guys, see you tomorrow. I need some sleep," Barry says and leaves first. He also has something else to do.
After saying goodbye, Barry runs out in a flash, leaving the team back to being a three-man working force.
Though they said that they will get this Man of Steel next time, Cisco and Caitlin continue with their work, trying to find where Girder can be.
Girder, a name Cisco, just came up with after hearing his description from Barry.
Caitlin rolls her eyes, hearing Cisco give another name to a Meta Human, but the focus right now is on finding this Meta Human.
While Cisco and Caitlin get busy, Dr. Wells leaves them and heads out as well, giving them an excuse about having something to do.
Once out of the cortex, Dr. Wells enters the time vault and closes the door behind him. He then gets up from his wheelchair, standing on his legs, and opens a hidden compartment that's inside the time vault, revealing a suit similar to the one Barry wears but yellow in color and a red lightning symbol on the chest.
And then suddenly, in a flash of red lightning, Dr Wells puts on the yellow suit and runs out of S.T.A.R. Labs without being noticed by anyone.
Dr. Wells, or if we call him by his super villain name, the Reverse Flash, crosses a massive distance within seconds before entering the sewers. He moves inside the sewers, fast and precise, as if he already knows which turns lead to where.
After a few seconds, the Reverse Flash finally stops and smiles as he stares at something big and black.
A being of his making, someone who listens to him with unquestioned loyalty. Someone he can use against the Flash to bring out more speed from him.
"Hey buddy, I need you to do something for me," Reverse Flash says, smiling at the big, black hulking thing.
