"No…" Victor whispered as he watched. "This… this can't be…"
And yet the emotions pouring into him—grief, joy, love—were overwhelming. Whoever this man was… the sword remembered him.
The little girl hugged the man's face tightly, tiny arms wrapped around his neck. "I love you, Dad."
He chuckled. "I love you too, sparkbug."
Suddenly—the skies darkened.
The memory cracked like glass and shadows crept into the edges of Victor's vision.
The last thing he saw was the little girl looking into the distance—her eyes widening in horror as a massive shadow loomed over the horizon.
The light vanished.
Victor snapped back to reality, gasping, heart pounding in his chest.
The sword… was humming.
The dark lightning was now mixed with a faint blue glow running through its hilt. Barely noticeable—but present.
Victor stared at it.
"…Did you just show me a memory?" he whispered.
