He sounded mortified. Deeply. Entirely. As if this were not the first time she had personally endangered his lifespan.
Well, of course, it wasn't the first. Then again, that insane woman would just argue how it's always been mutual.
Eden, still gripping his collar with one hand, only rolled her eyes. She tilted her head at him, unimpressed. "Then were you planning on going with the Marshal?"
Curtis balked. The mere thought tired him out. But then again, going with the Marshal was still better than going with the demon incarnate standing in front of him.
