"Is the food ready yet?" Ruby asked, her tone light, almost playful, as she wrung the water from her long dark hair.
Droplets fell onto her smooth shoulders, catching the sunlight like jewels.
"Yup," Riley replied, his voice steady, though his eyes betrayed his composure.
They lingered on Ruby's body, roaming shamelessly from the curve of her waist to the swell of her chest, and lower still.
Desire burned in his gaze, and no matter how he tried to look away, his eyes always returned to her.
Ruby pretended not to notice, though a knowing smile tugged at her lips.
"Then we'd better eat before it gets cold," she said softly. With a flick of her wrist, she produced a fine bottle of liquor, the glass catching the orange glow of the sinking sun. "I thought a good meal deserved a good drink."
