Chapter 187 - Source Origin(36)

Just as Cades was about to dash forward and battle against the two, using his warping ability that he would be long since dead without, a cloud of dust came out of seemingly nowhere, hindering his eyes and making them hurt quite a bit as dust got into them, causing them to start bleeding in all likelihood as he felt himself unable to blink.

Cades most powerful sense right now was magic, it was the mana sense he had developed, something that this Cades was quite talented at, but even more so he was relying on his sight because he hadn't been able to use the new sense for that long, because he lacked the skills to instantly switch, and as such, with his sight messed up, he continued dashing but refrained from warping, having no idea of where they were until he would be able to reactivate his new sense, something that shouldn't take him too long.

Before he was able to warp, however, there was something glinting right in front of him, cutting through the thick cloud of grey dust that had blinded him and was now cutting both his skin and his nose, something that would've most likely caused any normal person to be unable to breathe, and would most likely also have serious medical consequences for Cades if he fought in something like this during a seriously challenging battle like this one, though in this case he would just be healed at the end and all should be well.

His body reacted before his mind could grasp the situation, aiming at the only visible component of his enemy that was clad in the dust of the storm he was now stuck within, the blade that was aiming to take his life, a beautiful blade, decorated with sleek lines underlying a beauty, condensed of a golden silver colour that would've made thieves drool in their sleep whenever they thought of it, but in this case, it was more of a nightmare rather than something that would appear within a dream, the golden side pointed at him and looking menacing, though he had a feeling it might be quite soft in truth as he already knew of gold's properties.

As soon as his blade, silver in colour, struck the golden monstrosity whose back was covered in the very same silver radiance something happened, and not something that he had been happening.

Cades was thrown back a good three dozen feet as a powerful shockwave emanated from the blade, golden in colour and full of energy Cades could only interpret as a kind of golden mass without leader, violently throwing him back before he was able to catch himself using his steadfast active he was now so used to fighting with, ending up a good three dozen feet away, standing still amongst the storm, his mana refusing to answer yet, this entire battle having yet to go over the mark of thirteen seconds, waiting for another attack so he could hopefully block it, counting on the probable fact they probably couldn't see him either, the only weakness, a weakness they shared within this storm, his only problem having been that he hadn't moved from the place he had stood before the mage had called this forth.

His hand trembling he looked into the thick grey through which he could not even see his very own nose, perhaps because his eyes were now bleeding ferociously, still forced to stay open, perhaps a part of the spell, perhaps an unfortunate cut to some part of his face that would've bene responsible for cutting them, either way, he would perhaps not even be able to tell if the entire thing collapsed and the storm was over, but, at that moment, he felt something click, finally being able to see again, be it a second too late.

It happened just as he was finally able to see again, using his mana, as if comedically timed by the very gods of whatever place he was in, perhaps even those beasts standing around him when he thought about it, but either way, he was hit in the back by a torrent of thick and powerful mana, be it not powerful enough to hurt him, just make him fall over, a trick he knew too well, a trick that confirmed his worst assumptions for him.

The female swordsman...swordswoman... was planning to cut him apart as soon as he fell over, something he was able to stop himself from thanks to his steadfast active, but still, now he could feel the blade descending right towards where his head should've been, and finally, he could use everything at his disposal and take over the battlefield, being able to see and feel the opponents.

He warped right behind the attacking woman, about to strike her as her blade hit the stone and cause the entire thing to be stuck inside the sone at about four or six inches depth, the ancient stone giving way surprisingly easy, as if all the attacks and stomps, all the blades that had struck it before where simply not damaged because they were not the real target, or perhaps the thing had just been enhanced by something, the silver blade now first, before the golden one, perhaps something to do with the golden light that had swept him away.

Cades kicked her in the buttocks.

It wasn't because he wanted to spare her, it wasn't because he was into that or something of that kind, such thoughts had no place in this time, it was because the other opponent was already starting to attack, and bringing the woman away from her sword would be quite the beneficial thing for him as well.

And as such she flew a bit away, not too far, but still further than a normal person should be able to kick someone, both the attack enhanced by mana but the impact weakened by the very mana she, the sword-girl was surrounding herself with to diminish said expected attacks.
