Chapter 8 - Real Face

THE FOURTH BATTLE: PICCOLO VS GOTEN

The arena still buzzed from Future Gohan's crazy power display. Piccolo walked up, that familiar green cape flowing behind him. Goten bounced around on the other side, but something was different about him today.

Chi-Chi grabbed onto Goku's arm. "Piccolo better go easy on my baby!"

Goku scratched his head. "I dunno, Chi-Chi. Goten's been training really hard lately. Like, really hard."

Gohan leaned forward. "Yeah, he's been asking me and Dad for extra sessions. Says he's tired of everyone treating him like a little kid."

Vegeta just smirked. "About time someone knocked that brat down a peg."

But Future Gohan was watching both fighters carefully. Something felt off about Goten's energy signature.

Piccolo dropped his weighted gear - CRASH! The whole arena shook.

"You ready for this, kid?"

Goten's usual goofy smile was nowhere to be found. "Stop calling me kid, Piccolo. I mean it."

"Begin!"

Goten went Super Saiyan instantly and shot forward like a golden bullet. But this wasn't his usual wild swinging - every punch had technique behind it, every kick had purpose.

Piccolo barely got his guard up in time. The impact nearly broke his arms.

"When did you get this strong?!"

Goten didn't answer with words. He answered with a knee strike that Piccolo had to twist his whole body to dodge.

"Maybe I got sick of being the weak one."

Goku's - "That power level... that's not what I've been sensing in training!"

Chi-Chi was torn between worry and pride. "Look at my baby go!"

Piccolo tried to create some space, firing ki blasts, but Goten weaved through them like they weren't even there. The kid appeared right in front of him and grabbed his extended arm.

"My turn now!"

He spun Piccolo around and launched him across the arena. Piccolo stretched his arm out, wrapping it around a pillar to swing back.

"Stretch Punch!"

His fist shot forward, but Goten caught it like it was nothing.

"I've seen that move since I was five, Piccolo."

He yanked hard, pulling Piccolo toward a brutal uppercut. Piccolo bent his body in impossible ways to dodge the follow-up strikes.

"Special Beam Cannon!"

The yellow spiral beam shot out at point-blank range. Everyone expected Goten to dodge.

He didn't.

He caught it. With his bare hands.

The crowd went nuts. Even Vegeta looked shocked.

"That's impossible! That technique pierces through everything!"

Goten was struggling, his hands smoking and burning, but he held on.

"This hurts like hell! But I'm not running away anymore!"

With a scream that came from his soul, he redirected the beam into the sky. His hands were completely fried, blood dripping onto the arena floor.

Piccolo saw his chance. "Multi-Form!"

Four Piccolos surrounded Goten, attacking from every angle. For a moment it looked like the kid was done for, taking hits from all sides.

Then something in Goten's eyes changed. The playful little brother disappeared completely.

"I SAID I'M NOT A KID ANYMORE!"

Lightning exploded around his golden aura. His hair spiked up more, muscles bulged slightly.

Goku shot to his feet. "Super Saiyan 2?! aready showing that?!"

The power surge blew all four Piccolos away. They merged back together, but now Piccolo was breathing hard.

Super Saiyan 2 Goten wiped blood from his mouth. His face was completely serious now.

"I wanted everyone to see. I'm so tired of being protected all the time. Tired of getting left behind while everyone else fights."

His voice cracked a little. "Do you know what it's like? Watching Dad and Gohan risk everything while I'm told to 'stay safe'? Watching Trunks get stronger while everyone still sees me as the baby?"

"I've been training every night after you all go to sleep. In the gravity chamber, in the mountains, anywhere I could push myself harder. I won't be useless anymore!"

The raw emotion hit everyone like a truck. Chi-Chi started crying in the stands.

"My poor baby... I never knew..."

Goku looked devastated. "Goten... I thought I was keeping you safe."

Piccolo's expression softened. The fighting mask came off for a second.

"You think you're useless? Kid, you just achieved Super Saiyan 2 before your tenth birthday. That's incredible."

"Don't talk down to me!"

Goten exploded forward with everything he had. Each punch created sonic booms, each kick left craters. Piccolo was getting pushed to his absolute limit - stretching, regenerating, using every trick he knew just to survive.

But Goten wasn't done. His power kept rising. His hair started getting longer, more electricity crackling around him.

Future Gohan's eyes went wide. "He's trying for Super Saiyan 3!"

"At his age? That's insane!" Vegeta was actually interested now.

Goten was screaming, his whole body shaking as he tried to force the transformation. His hair flickered between lengths - normal Super Saiyan 2, then longer, then back again.

"I... CAN... DO THIS!"

For maybe half a second, his hair fully extended to Super Saiyan 3 length. The power was incredible - cracks spread across the entire arena.

Then he collapsed.

The transformation failed. Goten dropped to base form, completely spent. He could barely stand, smoke rising from his exhausted body.

Piccolo could have ended it with a gentle push.

Instead, he walked over and put his hand on Goten's shoulder.

"You did it, kid. You actually turned Super Saiyan 3. Most Saiyans never get anywhere near that level."

Goten looked up with tears in his eyes. "But I still lost..."

"You proved your point. Nobody here will ever see you as just a little kid again. That transformation attempt was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen."

Piccolo helped him stand. "But experience matters too. You've got the raw power, but I've got decades of fighting under my belt. Today, that made the difference."

Goten managed a weak smile. "Next time I'll beat you for sure."

Piccolo actually smiled back. "I'm counting on it."

"Winner: Piccolo!"

But everyone was cheering for both fighters. Goten had earned something better than victory - he'd earned respect.

Goku was wiping his eyes. "I'm so proud of him."

Chi-Chi was full-on sobbing. "My baby's growing up!"

Even Vegeta nodded. "The boy has a true Saiyan's heart. His power will surpass us all someday."

As they helped Goten off the arena floor, he looked back at Piccolo.

"Thanks, Piccolo. For taking me seriously."

Piccolo watched him go, smiling slightly. "That kid's gonna be something else. Heart of a warrior, never gives up, and power that just keeps growing. Yeah... the future's in good hands."

Trunks also congratulate goten and the end and talking in a really low tone ''Nice Goten, but remember we should show super saiyan 3 completely mastery both at the same time to surprise everyone''

Goten put his hand in the back of his head ''oohh, if forgot about that''.

This tournament was revealing way more than anyone expected. Hidden training, secret power levels, and what it really meant to be a Z Fighter.

THE FIFTH BATTLE: FUTURE TRUNKS VS MASTER ROSHI

Future Trunks walked into the arena looking way too serious for someone about to fight an old man. Master Roshi shuffled over to his corner, adjusting those ridiculous sunglasses like he was getting ready for a beach vacation instead of a fight.

Vegeta was already smirking. "This'll be over in ten seconds. That ancient turtle doesn't know what he's dealing with."

Goku wasn't so sure. "I dunno... Master Roshi's got tricks we've never even seen."

Future Bulma looked worried. "Trunks, be gentle with him!"

Future Trunks bowed respectfully. "Master Roshi, I've heard the legends about you. This is gonna be interesting."

The old hermit stroked his beard and chuckled. "Flattery won't save you, kid. But I like the manners."

"Fight!"

Trunks started slow - no transformation, just basic strikes to test the waters. Smart move after watching what happened with Gohan Black.

What happened next blew everyone's minds.

Master Roshi didn't just block Trunks' attacks. He redirected every single punch and kick like he was conducting an orchestra. Trunks threw a right hook, Roshi guided it past his head. A knee strike got deflected with just his pinky finger.

"Holy crap," Trunks muttered, jumping back. "That's not normal."

"Three hundred years of martial arts, son. I've seen every move in the book."

Trunks tried again, feinting left then attacking right. Somehow Roshi was already there, ready for it.

"Afterimage!"

Suddenly there were like twenty Master Roshis scattered around the arena. But these weren't just visual tricks - each one was moving independently, throwing punches from different angles.

Trunks was actually impressed. "Your technique is insane, old man. But..."

Golden energy exploded around him as he went Super Saiyan.

"Sometimes you just gotta hit harder."

Now Trunks was moving at ridiculous speed, striking each afterimage. But every time he destroyed one, two more popped up.

"Speed without brains is just showing off!" Roshi's voice came from everywhere.

The real Master Roshi appeared behind Trunks like a magic trick.

"Kamehameha!"

But this wasn't any Kamehameha anyone had seen. The blue beam split into dozens of smaller streams that moved like snakes, weaving through the air and chasing Trunks around the arena.

"What the hell kind of Kamehameha is that?!"

"Multi-Stream variant. Took me fifty years to get it right!"

Trunks was actually having to work to dodge all those streams. Every time he tried to attack, another beam would force him to move.

Goku's jaw was on the floor. "I never knew he could do that!"

"The old turtle's full of surprises," Krillin said, grinning.

Trunks realized he needed to step it up. He drew his sword, pumping ki into it until the blade was glowing like a lightsaber.

"Sorry Master Roshi, but I gotta end this now!"

He swung in a wide arc. "Shining Slash!"

A massive crescent of energy tore through all those Kamehameha streams and headed straight for the old man.

Roshi's eyes went wide. That attack could actually mess him up.

"Maximum Power!"

His muscles bulged out like a bodybuilder as his orange gi stretched tight. But even buffed up, he knew that slash would hurt.

So he did something nobody saw coming.

"Evil Containment Wave!"

Green spiraling energy shot from his hands, but instead of trying to seal Trunks, he used it like a whirlpool to redirect that energy slash, sending it spinning off into the sky.

The entire arena went dead silent.

Future Trunks just stared. "You used a sealing technique to deflect an attack? That's... that's brilliant."

Master Roshi powered down, breathing hard. "Like I said - three centuries of experience."

But Trunks wasn't done. He'd learned plenty fighting that psycho Gohan Black.

"Rampage Cut!"

His sword became a blur, unleashing hundreds of energy slashes. The whole arena filled with cutting energy, each slice sharp enough to cut through steel.

Master Roshi couldn't deflect them all. Several cuts appeared on his gi, though he avoided anything fatal.

"My turn for something special," he said, wiping blood from a small cut.

"Thunder Shock Surprise!"

Lightning erupted from his body, but this wasn't the weak version from the old tournaments. These bolts were crackling with serious voltage, enough to drop an elephant.

The electricity hit Trunks hard, making his muscles spasm and his Super Saiyan form flicker.

"Are you kidding me?! That technique is way stronger than it should be!"

Master Roshi grinned like a kid who just pulled a successful prank. "I may have been holding back the voltage for a few decades. Didn't want to accidentally fry anyone."

Trunks gritted his teeth, fighting through the paralysis. This old guy was unreal, but he had timelines to save and couldn't afford to lose.

"I respect your skills, Master Roshi. But I can't lose here!"

Lightning crackled around his golden aura as he transformed again.

"Super Saiyan 2!"

The power surge was incredible. All that electricity from Roshi's technique got completely overwhelmed by Trunks' own bio-electric field.

Master Roshi's confident smile finally faltered. "Well... that's significantly more power than I calculated."

Future Trunks moved so fast he practically teleported. One second he was across the arena, next second he was right behind Master Roshi.

"Final Flash!"

But he held back big time, using just enough power to knock the old master out without killing him.

The golden beam erupted, but Master Roshi had one more trick up his sleeve.

"Kamehameha Reversal!"

He actually caught the Final Flash with his bare hands and somehow managed to bounce most of it back at Trunks.

The explosion was massive. Smoke everywhere.

When it cleared, both fighters were down. Master Roshi was unconscious just outside the ring, while Future Trunks was on one knee inside the arena, clothes torn but still standing.

"Winner: Future Trunks!"

But everyone was cheering for Master Roshi. The old guy had pushed a Super Saiyan 2 to his limits using nothing but technique and experience.

Future Trunks walked over to where they were patching up Master Roshi, bowing deep.

"Thank you for the lesson, Master. Now I get why they call you the God of Martial Arts."

Master Roshi cracked open one eye and winked. "Just remember, kid - power without wisdom is dangerous. Don't make my old mistakes."

Goku was bouncing around like an excited kid. "That was amazing! Master Roshi, I had no idea you were holding back!"

Even Vegeta looked grudgingly impressed. "The old fool lasted longer than expected. Trunks needed Super Saiyan 2 just to finish him."

Future Trunks helped Master Roshi stand up. "In my timeline, I wish I'd had a teacher like you. Maybe things would've been different."

Master Roshi patted his shoulder. "Experience comes from surviving your screw-ups, son. You've clearly survived plenty."
