"Elynor!" Lorren's voice cut through the chaos as she rushed forward, her hands already glowing with white-hot light. "The magic's reacting to your proximity! Step away!"
But Elynor couldn't. Couldn't let go. Even as the pain lanced through him again, more intense this time, he refused to loosen his grip. "I'm not leaving you," he ground out, his teeth clenched against the agony the pain radiated down his back oscillating from scorching hot to freezing cold.
