Cultivators and demons are different; demons are naturally long-lived, while cultivators, in the end, often sever emotional ties and extinguish their desires. This is because aside from dual cultivation partners and a few Daoist friends, mortal relatives and friends will all pass away within a hundred years.
Witnessing one's own family and friends gradually aging, ultimately turning to bones and ash, certainly distresses the heart. Thus, many cultivators, once they step onto the Immortal Path, sever worldly ties and cease interactions with the secular world, cutting off their emotions of yearning to avoid cultivating demonic obstacles in their hearts later on.
