Mountain Eagle just arrived at Brown Bear Camp, and he hadn't really rested properly over the past few days. Right now, he just wanted to prepare a hearty dinner, take a hot shower, and go to sleep; he didn't want to participate in this rescue mission, which was clearly fishy.
It wasn't that he was cold-hearted, but the reaction of the State Police made him a bit suspicious.
First of all, Alaska State Police shouldn't be so enthusiastic. Secondly, even if they were going for a rescue, when a small plane crashes in a wilderness, the primary task should be to fix the location and then send a rescue helicopter, not to gather a large number of people and police dogs to go there.
As long as Alaska's mountain planes flew at low altitude, the sound would be quite loud.
Even Little Ruby said she saw signs of activity, definitely not footprints but obvious signs like smoke from a fire or something.
