Chapter 19 - [BIRTHDAY 1]

This chapter was a timeskip based on a vote on Petrion before the story was rewritten.

A lot was supposed to happen here at the beginning but I stopped the story at chapter 22 with an open ending at that time.

"Come on, please, Dad, just one," Lea pleaded with Peter, who was sitting in the living room working on something on his computer.

"Yes, Peter, just let her have one," said Felicia as she entered the new apartment, which was four times larger and more spacious than Peter's old place. Although the apartment actually belonged to Felicia, she hadn't used it much.

She had absolutely refused to go back to Peter's old apartment-especially after all that nonsense that happened right after their breakup, even though they had just fixed their relationship and hoped to start fresh.

Felicia was carrying several shopping bags.

Both Peter and Lea turned to look at her. Felicia hugged the excited Lea, though with some hesitation.

Peter observed the scene for a while-he could see the reluctance in Felicia's embrace. He knew why. He thought to himself, "I really need to talk to her soon."

Peter stepped forward to hug Felicia too, but she pushed him away and tossed the shopping bags onto the couch.

Seeing this, Lea quickly made an excuse to leave-she could tell it was going to be another long conversation between her new dad and his girlfriend. Peter had taught her well what to do in such situations.

"I haven't finished the homework Dad gave me. I'll go now," Lea said as she quickly left the living room, giving her dad a goodbye wave. She knew well that his girlfriend wasn't exactly the kindest person around.

Peter watched Lea leave and, while silently thanking himself for preparing her well, he also muttered under his breath, "Traitor."

"What was that?" Felicia asked, narrowing her eyes.

Peter raised his hands. "I didn't say anything... But seriously, are you still mad? We've talked about this."

Felicia crossed her arms under her chest, causing it to push forward-but her stern, angry face stopped Peter from enjoying the view.

"Are you kidding me, Peter? We agreed to leave the masks behind. It took everything I had to even try to accept that, and less than 30 hours later, you're back swinging through the city, fighting your cursed arch-nemesis and a deadly clone of your ex-girlfriend-who you never told me was your wife. And now she's in a damn coma, and you can't divorce her. And suddenly, you have a daughter-with a medical supervisor, no less. And your interactions with her were suspicious, especially when she was taking care of you after all the clone madness, Green Goblin drama, and the leader of the Fantastic Four being paralyzed... And instead of staying by her disabled husband's side, his wife brings her kids over to play with your new daughter-who, by the way, won't leave you alone. And also, she hates me."

Felicia was breathing hard, her words coming out in a furious, breathless rant.

"Like I've told you every time, I had to do it, Felicia. Please understand," Peter said, sadness in his voice-though it was nothing compared to the deeper sorrow he felt for Mary Jane, who had been in a coma ever since Susan had saved her from Paul, who had been holding her captive and starving her.

It had pushed Mary Jane beyond her limits. If Susan hadn't saved her in time, they might have lost her forever.

Felicia's face slowly changed from anger to sadness. "No, Peter. You're the one who needs to understand me. Can't you see I don't even care about everything that's happened? Just imagine if something had happened to you. If you were the one paralyzed instead. What if they'd actually killed you-or worse, turned you against everyone, even yourself?"

Peter was surprised. They had been having this same conversation for over a week and a half since everything happened with the Green Goblin and the clone Mary Jane. But this was the first time Felicia had admitted she was afraid of losing him. That made him feel incredibly guilty for worrying her.

He quickly hugged Felicia, not giving her the chance to resist. She stood still for a few moments, but then relaxed and melted into the embrace as Peter whispered to her

"I'm really sorry, Felicia. I didn't realize... It's my fault. But I promise-I won't do that again."

Felicia, hearing his every word, deepened the hug and whispered into his chest, her voice soft and teasing-but Peter's enhanced senses caught it easily, and she knew it "Apology accepted."

Trying to change the subject, Peter looked at the shopping bags. "So, did you get everything?"

Felicia, wiping her tears, glanced at the bags. "Yep. Decorations, everything. The others will come help decorate the living room while you take Lea out."

Peter could now clearly see that Felicia cared for Lea. She wanted to help the girl after hearing her story and understanding Peter's decision-unlike earlier, when she'd hesitated to hug her.

Peter knew exactly why Felicia was like this, and he wanted to bring it up-but now wasn't the right time. Better not ruin her mood.

"So, you guys decorate while I take her out?" Peter asked.

Felicia nodded and teased, "She's the birthday princess."

"Then maybe we should crown her. Think she'd like a tiara as a gift?" Peter joked back.

Felicia, ever true to her flirty self, approached Peter and gave him a deep, passionate kiss-which he returned with equal heat.

"Don't you think it's hard to have just one princess?" she whispered suggestively.

Peter was about to lift Felicia and carry her to the bedroom, but then his ears picked up the sound of small footsteps creeping toward the kitchen.

He gently moved Felicia aside-who looked disappointed about the interrupted moment-and nodded toward the kitchen.

The two of them walked over to find Lea trying to steal some candy from on top of the fridge using stacked chairs.

Lea looked at them both, her head bowed, and gave a weak smile. "Sorry."

Peter quickly picked her up and began tickling her while Felicia smiled unconsciously.

Peter stopped tickling Lea and looked at her, still giggling. "Okay, since my little one wants something sweet, how about we go out for some ice cream?"

Lea screamed joyfully, "Ice cream!" and bolted up the stairs to change into something fit for going out.

Peter called after her, "No running on the stairs!" Lea slowed down but still rushed excitedly toward her room.

Peter and Felicia looked after her, and Felicia said, "She's going to love the party."

Peter nodded. "Yeah... she will."

End of the chapter.

The title may seem weak but do not underestimate it. On this birthday , someone may remember something that happened in the past

event and it is related to Leah.
